2015/3/3: Genesis: Eternal Champions, Robocop 3, ESPN National Hockey Night

As I understand it, the finishing moves in Eternal Champions are activated by defeating your opponent in a certain position on the screen. I could never get them to work as a kid, which sucked because that was pretty much the only reason I rented the game.

2015/2/19: Wii U: NES Remix

I can't speak for NES Remix, but I really enjoyed Remix II. The main goal is to finish each level as quickly as possible to get the rainbow stars... and some of them are insanely hard. I love the gimmicks, too, like the Mario Bros. and Kid Icarus levels that keep zooming further and furt...

2015/1/27: Dreamcast: Worms Armageddon, Xtreme Sports, Worms World Party

Did the announcer in "Xtreme Sports" say "You failed, man," or "You failed man"? Because the latter would be even funnier. It sounds like something the bad guy in "Magician Lord" would say to you between levels. "You failed man. Be dead down here."

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

The SNES Rainbow Road remake is gorgeous, with the full moon in the background.

I would love to see Banshee Boardwalk in the next round. That's always been my favorite track. DK Mountain would be another great one to redo... or Waluigi Pinball!

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

I can't believe we have to wait until May for the next eight tracks!

I hope Nintendo continues to add tracks. I'd love to see new DLC every six months for a few years.

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

You know what? Now that I've played through all the tracks 5-6 times each, they're really growing on me. The only one I don't like is the icy stage with the split track... great idea but somewhat boring. The Excitebike track is a blast... like Baby Park with ramps. Love the o...

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

The DLC is out today. There are no stinkers among the new tracks (five new ones, three returning), though none of them blew me away, either. The Hyrule and F-Zero tracks are my favorite, just for nostalgia's sake. The Yoshi track from Double Dash is not as fun as I remember it bein...

Most imprressive thing on the NES?

The crystal-clear voice sample at the beginning of S.C.A.T. "You must destroy them! The earth is counting on you! Good luck!" I would restart the game over and over to hear that.

Also the sung/rapped intro to Skate or Die 2. And I was always impressed at a...

What do your the kids in your life think of these games?

Unfortuately, none of my nieces or nephews have shown any interest in playing any of my older systems. They just want to play the latest games I have.

2014/7/8: Genesis: Aladdin, Forgotten Worlds, Galaxy Force II

I have a soft spot for Forgotten Worlds. That, along with Space Harrier 2, Rambo 3 and Ghosts & Ghosts, were the first Genesis games I played, and all of them blew my mind. It was such an incredible step up from the NES.
