Re: 2016/11/17: Sega Master System: Rambo: First Blood Part 2, Zillion II: The Tri Formation

Zillion II was the first SMS game I ever played and at the time it blew me away (up until then, I'd only had a ZX Spectrum!) In hindsight though, it's really mediocre. The level designs are lazy, the bosses in particularly being the Moonwalker-style "lots of standard enemies at once" varie...

Re: The Terminator-Genesis

I posted regarding this when the VGC last reviewed it. It really is a very easy game, but I think it does come across as hard when you first play it. When it was first reviewed in the UK it was either easy or hard depending on who you asked. Gamesmaster (TV) rated it highly, Mean Machines (magazine)...

Re: Why did you go back?

I've never got into modern games, primarily because it feels like you need to devote so much time to them to learn them properly and get anywhere, andalso because they just seem to lack originality (too much FPS!). I also utterly despise the way modern games are going, in terms of buying a half (or ...

Re: 2016/9/16: Turbografx-16: Monster Lair (CD), Genji Tsushin Agedama (Japan), Order of the Griffon

You probably notice the resemblance between the dude in Monster Lair and the one in Adventure Island because the latter was Hudson Soft's NES conversion of Wonder Boy, and Monster Lair in the arcade was actually a Wonder Boy sequel called Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair! I'm sure you already knew that ...

Re: 2016/5/27: NES: Karnov, Defenders of Dynatron City, Terminator 2: Judgement Day

Entertaining reviews as always, although I do find it a bit frustrating when you criticise a game for being stupidly hard when you actually just haven't discovered a simple way of completing the part you're criticising. In the driving section of T2, you just have to hold down and fire to shoot back ...

Re: 2015/12/26: Philips CD-i: Caesars World of Gambling, Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia

I was planning on getting a CDI near to Xmas in the early 90's, but I changed my mind and waited for the 3DO instead. My Mum had already bought me Zelda: Wand of Gamelon, so she had to take it back - kind of wish I still had that one! I remember playing Caesar's World of Boxing at my friend's house;...

Re: 2015/5/19: Neo Geo: Top Players Golf, Burning Fight, Neo Turf Masters

Always nice to see new Neo Geo reviews, though your opinion of Neo Turf Masters seems to have lessened somewhat since reviewing SNK Arcade Classics on the PS2 and Wii, when you referred to it as "exceptional" and "absolutely superb"!
