Re: 2017 for Nintendo - Good, Great or just okay

@JWK - I agree nearly 100% with that assessment. Sounds like we're thinking on the same wavelength when it comes to Nintendo.

Would you remove this Pac-Man sticker? (with Poll) And, how do you feel about upgrades and multicade machines?

I got a 1981 Pac-Man machine a couple months ago as my newest arcade addition. (I'm done for now, since this completes the 3 arcade/pinball machines that I had always wanted). One issue though.. The game has a sticker on it, which shows the company that may have been the one that originally owned an...

Re: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Game Boy)

Just wanted to chime in with a final follow-up on Link's Awakening (DX version), since I just completed it today. This is now the 3rd Zelda game that I've beaten, along with Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time. I feel the same about this one as I felt about those -- very solid games, but I have tro...

Re: North and South

Thanks for the heads up, matmico. North & South for the NES has been on my very short list of games that I constantly remind the VGC that he needs to try whenever he asks for recommendations. It's a hidden gem on the NES and a great multiplayer game. Despite mentioning it for about 10 years, he ...

Re: Worst Types of Levels?

Mine cart levels. That's what popped in my head first. I agree about escort missions too.. I hate my survival in a level being decided by the abilities of some idiot AI. Maybe more unusual.. despite being a fan of RPGs, I always hated the dungeons. For example, big fan of Final Fantasy games from th...

Re: 2017 for Nintendo - Good, Great or just okay

I agree that 2017 has been an excellent year for Nintendo, for both the Switch and 3DS. But I'll focus on the Switch. In less than one year, they've released two system-selling must-have games that are exclusive to their systems, with Super Mario Odyssey and LoZ: Breath of the Wild. I can't remember...

Re: Rocket League (PS4)

Had a marathon session of Rocket League tonight with my friends Brent and Kevin tonight. This game is so addictive! Love how you can play 3-on-3 versus the CPU! Naturally we played "snow day" mode (hockey), and there's an arena that's even decked out with Christmas lights. Beautiful. Yeah...

Re: Best Christmas Game?

Selling my Christmas Nights was one of my most hated mistakes. We were raising money for a house at the time and it was genuinely valuable back then, (I think we got close to or maybe a little over 100 for it.) but damn... I miss that game. Just a side note that popped in my head from this... Surpr...

Re: 1982: A Christmas to Remember

Great article. I always like reading about what it was like to experience games before my time, whether in the context of Christmas or otherwise. Even though I wasn't born yet, I can visualize that Christmas morning of 1982 by your writing. Growing up, Christmas was about the only way that I could g...

Re: Rocket League (PS4)

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Old-school arcade action and four-player split-screen! My friend Scott gave me this game and it's a winner. You have vehicles knocking around soccer balls and hockey pucks in huge arenas, kind of like a smash-up derby sports game. There's a lot of replay value bu...
