Re: Gex series

I'd assume Gex 2 was more of an "See! Our system can do 3D free roaming adventure platformers too!" type deal for PS1 owners. Yeah, I recall that being part of it. And it was good back then, just not to the "classic" level of Mario. PS1 owners fared much better, though, when the...

Re: Fortnite: Battle Royale

I'm late to the party, but this game is pretty great, and -- considering that it's a FREE download, with no catches -- I think it's a must-get game. Personally, I'm totally out of the loop about these types of games. I used to like competitive shooters, but I got burnt out on them years ago and stop...

Re: Worst 50 Games of All Time!

Just following up on my post above.. read some of the reviews for the games I mentioned, and Ride to Hell and Ninjabread Man in particular seem to have a lot of potential to be "so bad that it's good", in terms of being hilariously bad to play them, especially with friends around. I just o...

Re: Nintendo Labo

I think this looks cool. I like seeing unique concepts like this that use weird accessories to create new methods of gaming. And btw, before the announcement, Nintendo said it would be something for "children and people who are children at heart", so Nintendo fans should not be complaining...

Re: Worst 50 Games of All Time!

Thanks; that was a fun read! Lots of funny remarks (Carmegeddon 64's was my favorite), and a good chance to re-read some of your best humorous reviews. My only surprise was the #1 pick.. not because I think it's a good game, but instead, just because I figured there had to be even worse games out th...

Re: Windjammers (Playstation 4, 2017) (Neo Geo, 1994)

Heads up.. For anyone interested in trying Windjammers, the downloadable version of the PS4 remaster just went on sale for $7.50 on PSN (50% off). Limited time only. Can't beat that price for a game that sells for huge prices on the Neo Geo systems.

Re: Gex series

Of course, the other reason for success was that Playstation owners were struggling to find a game that could compete with Mario 64--and while Gex 2 and 3 don't come close, they were respectable enough for PS1 owners to grin and bear it. That doesn’t really make sense to me given that 1) The games ...

Re: Ending to the Saints-Vikings game

Yeah, it's up there for me too. One of the best endings I've ever seen. Especially coming from the Vikings.. it would have been less shocking if Drew Brees and the Saints pulled that off. But something about the Vikings feeling like an underdog, along with their years of failure in the playoffs, alo...

Re: Bally Astrocade multicart

By the way, I'd also add that I agree with your general rule of not reviewing the simple games coded in BASIC. I like that you stick to official releases, along with released homebrews, prototypes, etc., rather than posting a review for a simple game that doesn't exist anywhere except on the multica...

Re: Review Wish List

Shadow Complex (limited physical release for PS4; digital on 360) Let me second this.. Still my all-time favorite downloadable game. I was blown away by this game when I played it on the 360 in 2009. It's a 2D shooter and Metroidvania game crossed together, like a mix of Metroid, Contra, and Unchar...
