Re: Rocket League (PS4)

Had a marathon session of Rocket League tonight with my friends Brent and Kevin tonight. This game is so addictive! Love how you can play 3-on-3 versus the CPU! Naturally we played "snow day" mode (hockey), and there's an arena that's even decked out with Christmas lights. Beautiful. Yeah...

Re: Best Christmas Game?

Selling my Christmas Nights was one of my most hated mistakes. We were raising money for a house at the time and it was genuinely valuable back then, (I think we got close to or maybe a little over 100 for it.) but damn... I miss that game. Just a side note that popped in my head from this... Surpr...

Re: 1982: A Christmas to Remember

Great article. I always like reading about what it was like to experience games before my time, whether in the context of Christmas or otherwise. Even though I wasn't born yet, I can visualize that Christmas morning of 1982 by your writing. Growing up, Christmas was about the only way that I could g...

Re: Rocket League (PS4)

Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Old-school arcade action and four-player split-screen! My friend Scott gave me this game and it's a winner. You have vehicles knocking around soccer balls and hockey pucks in huge arenas, kind of like a smash-up derby sports game. There's a lot of replay value bu...

Re: Dark Souls Relaxing?

Side note to this... which is your favorite in the series? I haven't played any of them, but do own the first Dark Souls (and might have Demon's Souls lying around too, but don't remember...). Just never got around to playing it. But if someone only played one, which would you say is best?

Does this mean Telegames is still around, or did you buy it from a reseller?

Not sure about Telegames. But it's a 2002 game, so I just bought it used from a reseller for $6.

Re: Best Christmas Game?

It's funny you say that because I was thinking the same exact thing when I saw the title of this topic. Christmas NiGHTs. I used to play it every December, but I've forgotten the past few years. I'll have to do that this year. While it's just a promo game, I feel like it's the best combination of gr...

Re: Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)

along with a faint whiff of self-congratulation for how you "already thought it was overrated then" Eh, that was actually just to point out that my impressions of the game were based on 2000 standards (i.e., before the game aged), rather than 2017 standards. Not sure why I'd congratulate ...

Re: Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) & TSB tournaments

Using the original rosters locks the competitive teams to the few handful that were good in the early 90s. Fans of other teams enjoy playing with updated rosters, especially since modern NFL games are held captive by EA and the Madden series, and Super Tecmo Bowl is just plain more fun than modern ...

Re: Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)

This is the first actual "problem" you've mentioned, and it's an extremely superficial one. This would be a more productive discussion if you actually said what you don't like about the game, rather than just harping on how it somehow "is not timeless" without saying why. You're...
