Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

The other night I watched What We Do in the Shadows - a deadpan, Spinal Tap-style mockumentary about four vampires who share a house in Wellington, New Zealand. Each vampire is different from the others - the eldest is essentially Nosferatu, one is a long-haired Vlad the Impaler type, another is a ...

Re: Kids movies that can be enjoyed by adults

There is brief nudity in Monster Squad? Missed that one..I know it's a bit suggested in the scene where Frankenstein's monster snaps a picture of the neighbor..but i'm pretty sure it's never shown. I will agree it has a choice word or two but that was par for the course for 80's flicks. The Goonies...

Re: Kids movies that can be enjoyed by adults

Monster Squad I watched this a couple years ago for the first time in a long time (my wife had never even heard of it) and I was surprised by some of the language and the brief nudity in it. I guess I always watched the edited versions on weekend afternoons as a kid. Still loved the movie but I wou...

Re: Halloween Games?

It's not necessarily Halloween themed, but the original Obscure for the ps2 was a really good survival horror game. It's a tad pricey though.

Streak vs Series

Now that the Indians streak is over I feel that I can finally talk about it without fear of jinxing them. First off, it was one hell of a fun run! It leads me to the question though for baseball fans of whether you would rather see your team make a historically significant run that might last decade...

Re: Old Mechanical Games

I was just talking to a friend about some of the fun old board games we used to play as kids, including: Run Yourself Ragged - this was an ingenious little obstacle course game you controlled with knobs and levers. Apparently the game still exists under a new name. Hungry Hungry Hippo - my sister h...

Re: Barbie NES

This was one of a handful of games that my wife had along with her childhood NES. My wife could never beat that last level either. Stick with it and I promise you that the musical note/conveyer belt level can be beaten. I can't say that the ending is overly memorable, but that might be the decade or...

Re: Simcity SNES.

Never knew about the money cheat code, but I always made sure to turn off natural disasters. Although was a monster (Bowser?) ripping through your city a natural disaster?

No, this is a subtle metaphor for America's wars overseas. A bit of wry, pointed satire from Hollywood's most underappreciated auteur.

Using subtle in any description of Michael Bay seems wrong somehow.
