2015/1/31: Jaguar: Val d'Isere Skiing and Snowboarding

I agree with the upgrade.  I've always thought it's a pretty decent game on the Jaguar.  Like Super Burnout, it really shows off the fact that the Jaguar was a sprite-pushing powerhouse (unfortunately in a time when the world wanted 3D games).  But I also agree with the criticism that...

2015/1/7: Playstation 4: Minecraft, NBA 2K15

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that Minecraft is a generational thing.  I don't have anywhere near the time or patience for it these days.  I was raised on Atari.  Quick to learn, difficult to master, etc.  The internet has sapped whatever attention span I used to have.&...

Also, keep in mind that any N64 ports are almost certainly not using the original game code.  The original N64 versions were coded in assembly (from what I've read), so for ports such as this they have been re-coding them from the ground up in C.  They try very hard to reproduce them as cl...

2008/7/1: Atari 2600: Bugs, Mouse Trap, Tutankham

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I was browsing Atari 2600 videos on YouTube, and came across this one of Tutankham.<br /><br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mZrOZaGXVY<br /><br />Anyhow, the reviewer raves about that game, and offers a strategy for beating it (who knew you had to conserve the...

Back to Basics?

I agree with you Dave.  Love the shorter reviews, and prefer the reviews of older games / systems.  Like you say, this how you started out!<br /><br />Besides, now that the internet has shortened all of our attention spans to about 0, I have....wait, what were we talking about again?<br />...

2014/4/30: Atari 2600: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (Fixed)

Thanks for reviewing the fixed ET Dave! It's too bad that it doesn't sound like much of an improvement. The web site is a fun read and made it sound like it is the ET that we all wanted from our youth. So I had high hopes. Oh well. Thanks again! Somebody needs convince Howard Scott Warshaw to jump i...

2014/4/19: Colecovision: It's Only Rock 'N Roll, Subroc

Had Subroc as a kid.  For some reason, the thing that always turned me off about the game was the sound effects.  I can't really describe why, but they just annoyed me -- like fingernails on a chalkboard.  I can still hear them in my mind just thinking about the game....

2014/4/6: Bally Astrocade: Biorhythm, Blast Droids, Sea Wolf/Missile

The biorhythm stuff always fascinates me.  To think that this stuff was popular at one time!  It's almost hard to believe today, and yet I was a kid during that time,  I remember getting a TI-30 calculator for Christmas as a kid that came with a big book of things to do with it. ...
