Re: Dead Game Servers

I don't usually play online games, however some games have achievements that require you to be online. That's a problem when you are going for a platinum trophy on an older ps3 game, and a trophy requires you to play an online match when that server is no longer online. This is true for NBA jam: on...

Re: Huge Atari Boxes

Correction to my prior post... it turns out that the XE boxes that I have are smaller than those 400/800 boxes. I didn't realize until I checked at home last night and realized that my Blue Max and Food Fight boxes for Atari XE are smaller than the one you show there. (I didn't measure them, but th...

Re: Early to Mid 1995

Even bad graphics are art; they're still "the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination." Source: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/art They're even in a visual form. ;) I suppose we could go with a more critical definition of art; art must express a view...

https://archive.org/stream/EDGE.N018.19 ... 3/mode/2up

From Edge Magazine. Covers most of the same ground as the Next Gen interview. The interviewer asks if Atari will buy Commodore or sue other companies besides Sega.

Why laser disk failed. Proposes that VCRs' time shifting capabilities were more the cause of laser disk's failure than price.

Re: Nice little 2600 Pickup

Congradulations! Indy 500 is one of the better early 2600 games. Based on Atari's Indy 800 arcade game, I think.

Wish I could play the arcade version; it looks really cool.

Re: Early to Mid 1995

But... the PS1 was released in '94 in Japan... ;) Have a PlayStation. Love it. Would love an N64, Saturn, Jaguar, or a 3DO. I'd even love a CD-I, CD32, Pippin, VIS, or PCFX. This was an era of balancing features and price, similar to the early home computer era. We got 3 major systems (PSX, N64, Sat...

Re: Dead Game Servers

This caught my eye: MADE argues that simply being able to view videos and read descriptions of "abandoned" online gameplay is not enough for researchers. Being able to actually play online games as they were originally designed can be useful for anthropological studies, psychological exper...

Re: Cats like this icon idea?

"My cat likes this" might be funny, but if I saw a cat icon I'd assume the game had cats.

Re: Dave’s No Cursing Policy

I usually consider hell, damn, ass, curse words. Especially damn; you're literally saying something should be separated from everything good for all eternity. That's harsh, especially for a silly game. It's not even original. As for expressing emotion, there are, more creative, other ways. Mashing o...
