Re: VentureBeat article "Consoles need to ditch discs and embrace digital downloads"

I actually find buying things online harder than buying things in stores. Username? Password? Credit Card Mumber? I don't have time to remember all that!

Re: VentureBeat article "Consoles need to ditch discs and embrace digital downloads"

Also, the author makes a mistake. Online distribution's not free; it just moves a variable cost, the cost of each disk, to a fixed cost, the cost of renting servers. If a game fails & it's on a disk or cart you can still sell it off slowly over time & eventually make your money back. If an o...

Re: VentureBeat article "Consoles need to ditch discs and embrace digital downloads"

Ok, read it. My thoughts: Got the positives right, but forgot the negatives. Says Apple solved them, but I disagree. I run out of room on my phone constantly. I usually turn data off when playing, but a lot of games need it on to load their next level pack. I have limited data; constant downloads ar...

Re: VentureBeat article "Consoles need to ditch discs and embrace digital downloads"

Actually, I've been thinking of late that consoles should ditch their internal processors & just put everything on a cartridge, like the Coleco Telstar Arcade. SOCs are getting so powerful & cheap it's starting to sound practical again. ;)

And it's sold.

Not sure I trust what John Hartman says; some of it seems to contradict the actual proxy agreement.

Re: New Stuff on Atari Age

I would like to see a review of Phase Zero. AtariAge isn't the only company which sells it; a couple of old Atari Dealers are still around, & they stock it. (Best Electronics, I think.) Not sure if there are differences between the versions; someone mentioned a patch to fix the game & make t...

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

Saw "I Bury the Living" this weekend. A man who's elected chairman of a cemetery discovers people die when he marks their plots as occupied. Interesting, but with a dissapointing ending. Well made. Some scenes are stagey, but that's normal for a 50's film, and they pull off some interestin...

Re: No campaign in new Call of Duty?

Can't read the article with scripting off; not turning it on to do so. Was this story by a staff writer or an independent contributor? From your post... Rumors are rumors; I won't make much of 'em without more evidence. I can see why a developer might drop offline portions of a game; if most of thei...
