Re: RIP Wii U 5th birthday!

It was a bad idea from the beginning. Underpowered and built around a completely useless gimmick. Casual players bought the Wii because its controller simplified play and broke down a layer between the player and the game, but the Wii U's complicated interface was the exact opposite; it added a laye...

Re: 2017/11/17: Sega CD: Revenge of the Ninja, Starblade

I wish there were more anarchistic oddities like Starblade. Console 3d was always one generation behind what they were trying to achieve. We could have had perfect wireframe driving simulations in 16 bit, and silky smooth, high resolution, flat-shaded polygons in 32bit. Hey, I like the arcade Virtu...

Re: Sega 32X PWM Audio vs Game Boy Advance PWM Audio?

And what I meant to say is would have it been possible to port GBA PWM music tracks to the Sega 32X PWM if homebrew communities tried like this example.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bhft6GcmQE. Because it does show how much missed potential the Sega 32X was in its hardware capabilities due to ...

Re: Sega 32X PWM Audio vs Game Boy Advance PWM Audio?

One question I have is the Sega 32X PWM Audio powerful enough to port Game Boy Advance PWM Sample Music to the 32X PWM channels, or would it be impossible? This is a meaningless question. PWM has one bit of resolution; what that bit can be used for is entirely up to the software. Both systems' audi...

Re: Rampage: The Movie

Wow, that looks like garbage. I mean, it looks like an awful movie, but it also just looks bad . I'm not expecting War for the Planet of the Apes here, but you'd think a movie set for release 13 years after the Peter Jackson King Kong might be able to put a half-convincing CG gorilla on the screen.

Re: New Mario Movie by Illumination?

Maybe I would have had more fun with it if it weren't just so gross to look at. You can almost smell every scene; it's like a big ol' foot right in your face. Everything's all dirty and floppy.

Re: New Mario Movie by Illumination?

The Bob Hoskins movie is one of the most unpleasant spectacles I've ever witnessed. No matter how this one ends up turning out, at bare minimum it'll be competently made as a film and have some discernible connection to the actual games.

Re: Alien Colonial Marines (PS3)

One thing that I know happened, even if I couldn't find it in the PS3 patch notes I linked, is that the original release, on top of being tremendously buggy, had ugly, low-resolution textures that made it frequently look like a PS2 game. One of the first updates included a complete overhaul of the t...

Re: Alien Colonial Marines (PS3)

It wasn’t terrible but it was not very good either. I think when we see Alien in the title we automatically assume it will be great like the marvelous Alien Isolation. Alien: Isolation was released a year later. Aliens: Colonial Marines got the reception it did because it was a broken, unfinished g...

Re: Digital Lifespan

Atari Corp was fairly successful after the crash, till the computer market turned to PC clones in the early 90's. And I do believe Atari Games inc was fairly successful in the arcade scene, till that market changed. Yeah, I didn't bother to address those divisions because anyone making arcade machi...
