Re: Favorite boss fights?

Psycho Mantis (PS1/Metal Gear) - Everything from his creepy taunts and unsettling look played into making this boss fight unforgettable. I loved the way the original Metal Gear Solid set up these boss encounters. They really played with your expectations...often filling you with dread or anxiety as...

Re: New Icon Idea - can the game be beat in one sitting?

Oh... actual answer. I'm an idiot sometimes. I don't think an icon for that is necessary.

Re: New Icon Idea - can the game be beat in one sitting?

I usually use light gun games or computer flash games on kongregate as my break from RPGs and strategy games.

Re: So when did home video games become "Arcade Perfect?"

There are examples each gen where a said system could have a near arcade perfect port of a popular game. The converse of course is that the home consoles would also be technically unable to reproduce several arcade titles faithfully. As an example, when Super Street Fighter 2 came out on SNES/Genes...

Re: Anyone still favor "wired" controllers?

I definitely do not mind wired controllers. You can make an argument for tangled wires, etc. but if you take good care of your controllers, it's fine. I sit close to the tv, so I don't really need wireless. I do have the ps3 wireless controllers, and sometimes I play with them charging anyway. Did ...

Alright... so I finally reset my password to post again to post in this. Those of you taking a guy with a family who runs a review site as seriously as you are really need to chill the **** out. Seriously, as you get older you spend less time on games and those fun side projects and more time on wif...

Re: Recommend me some games

A lot of the thread has been about RPGs, I might recommend Star Ocean 2 on the PS. It is a really... really long game, and some of the sound effects and voices are annoying... but the game is astonishingly detailed for what it is. It's one of those games that you'd probably want to play through with...

Re: The Sad State of Future Retro Gaming (and Managing Storage on New Consoles)

I hate that games that require patches will need a workaround in the future. I think it will decrease their value overall. This is because the part of the market for retro games made up of people popping on eBay to buy some random stuff from their childhood will disappear. However, the core retroga...

Re: 2018/2/18: Playstation: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII

I own(ed) both of these, but I think FF8 is one of many games that didn't make it out of San Diego when my house was foreclosed on. (Also on that list: Sonic Adventure and Virtua Cop 2) I agree very much on the FF7 review, and mostly with the FF8 review. 8 is very experimental and different, but it ...

Re: Issue with PS2 reading PS1 games

It is an original larger model. Though I think I might have a slim model in storage as a backup. And thanks for the guide, I'll give this a shot. It looks like I have all the tools other than a can of compressed air. I figured there was a way to fix this... that does look rather complicated though, ...
