Re: Popeye (NES)

I always thought that Popeye was a dead-ringer for Kangaroo, or vice-versa. It's a great game. If it has a fault, it's that I was always wanting a 2nd or 3rd level (like Donkey Kong).

Re: River Raid (Atari 2600)

This also begs the question; what other Atari 2600 games are out there that I would be hooked on? Berzerk is pretty addicting on the 2600 if you play a tougher variation like #9. The difficulty on that setting ramps up quickly and it's fun to keep trying for high scores. Maze Craze is great 2 playe...

Re: Best time of year for gaming?

Winter - hands down.. Especially if you live in northern climates. Too cold outside, no yardwork to do, even the busiest of homeowners with demanding jobs and families can find time. I'm thinking about re-visiting Vice City and San Andreas this winter

Re: Book review: Art of Atari

I loved this book too. I think it's worth it just for the marketing flyers and info on all the rare (even unseen) prototypes and cabinets. The author even released another book of just the game art posters where you can just clip them, frame them, and hang them. It's a great coffee table book that I...

Re: Atari Max cartridges?

I'll pick one up and let you know via this thread how it works, etc. I can't find a full list of games anywhere online except for people that say "literally ALL the games" are available with this program.

Re: Atari Max cartridges?

Anybody familiar with AtariMax cartridges? I already own a few multicarts and I would love to be able to play Atari XE Roms on the original systems. Unfortunately when I got the order web page I have no idea what to order.  There are all sorts of variations and I don't know the difference. Any info...

Re: Play as many games as you can or play less games to death ?

Yes once I moved from the Spectrum and ST, which thanks to the rampant piracy on those systems never left me short of games to play. Onto consoles I like you likes the fact although the game investment was bigger I could get months out of the games. However now with the re-sale market selling PS3 a...

Re: Play as many games as you can or play less games to death ?

I tend to beat 'em to death. To me, the beauty of all the systems past Colecovision was the technology was there to create a game you could get a lot of mileage out of. I remember going through new Atari 2600 carts like water when I was a kid because the replay value wasn't there. When I was in coll...

Re: C64 mini

No Lode Runner, no Blue Max, no M.U.L.E.? I think list of games for C64 mini is pretty disappointing. Despite load times, C-64 & Atari 800XL users from back in the day loved using 64k capabilities to play The Ultimas, Seven Cities of Gold, Return of Hercules, or the early Castle Wolfensteins. Ga...

Re: All the way through?

I just finished Return of Hercules for the Atari 800 (I bought it on ebay a couple of months ago but only recently sat down to play it).

I also recently made it through Pitfall - Mayan Adventure for Sega Genesis for the 2nd time but I still haven't won AND collected all the letters.
