Missing Atari 2600 Reviews?

My "vote" would be for the missing Avalon Hill games -- especially Death Trap, an unusual and challenging game that's sort of like the Phoenix boss battle but in reverse.

It's also one of the few Atari 2600 games that can be beaten, though mastering it on Hard is no easy task.

Video Olympics (Atari 2600)

I was surprised by how much fun Video Olympics can be with multiple players. It may not look like much but can offer a good time for a few minutes, not to mention 4P simultaneous gameplay.

Has interest in Atari 2600 collecting died?

Regarding flash carts -- the NES, Genesis, and SNES have them too, but those collecting scenes are very much alive and well. I think it's had a small impact on Atari 2600 collecting, but the high-value carts still go for big bucks.

The paddle controllers are a real strength of the 2600. A...

Has interest in Atari 2600 collecting died?

A retrogaming store opened up nearby recently, and the owner commented that the Atari stuff is basically going untouched. Over the course of about a month, he's only had one significant buyer.

He also mentioned that a surprising amount of his business is previous-gen Nintendo stuff that G...

The Twisted Farce that is the Evolution of 2d
No, it's just Jon ironically deconstructing 3D as a major root to all gaming's problems nowadays.
I'm just trying to figure out why he's so stuck on the Jaguar when other, later systems are actually more capable in 2D, starting with the Saturn. (The PlayStati...

The Twisted Farce that is the Evolution of 2d

I'm still not sure what this "advanced 2D technology" is supposed to mean. Is this whole to-do just about anti-aliasing?

Its unfair not to have all the Sega Genesis games in one section
You may have me in checkmate there, my friend. Before I tip my king though, let me bring up the Commodore 64 again. The Commodore 64's disk drive contained its own 6502 processor. Its own brain.
Ah, but as you'll see, Grandmaster, I foresa...

Its unfair not to have all the Sega Genesis games in one section

scotland17, I don't think any of your examples add an additional, more powerful CPU to the system, though.

That's really what differentiates the Sega CD, in my mind -- it has its own brain, and that brain does far more than just basic I/O functions. It has nearly everything it would need ...

Its unfair not to have all the Sega Genesis games in one section

The real tragedy is the number of Sega CD RPGs that are totally untranslated -- around 20, some apparently quite good, with not a single finished fan-translation among them. (Work has been done on Shadowrun and Cosmic Fantasy Stories, but nothing we can play yet.)

And then there are all t...

Disagree with you on this one. I think the additional hardware added by the Sega CD -- including an additional CPU, 10 extra audio channels, etc. -- makes it, essentially, a separate platform. And then there's the $300 cost.
Now go and see that the TG-16 includes the CD ...
