Jaguar CatBox?

I doubt it. I've read that VGA has used DB9 but never seen it in person. I have seen the connector used for EGA or CGA on monitors from the early 80s. VGA usually has 15 pins in three rows. So I'm real curious about what the DB9 is for on that.

Has interest in Atari 2600 collecting died?

Not a case of needing to find a weapon -- among the games I'm thinking of are Asteroids and Space Invaders. Atari was before my time, so the lack of title screens and other relative obtuseness are mystifying, at times. My first 2600 was given to me by a friend who had no idea what to do with it. (He...

The Crash

Here's another thread about the topic on AtariAge:

What was the crash of 1983 like?

Has interest in Atari 2600 collecting died?

IMO another problem--if you will--with the 2600, is the primitiveness of not just the graphics but the overall design of the games. There's a lot of them that I couldn't figure out how to start a game or make my guy shoot and stuff.

What if Sony still manufactured the PlayStation 2?

I always thought a very good 2D game could be made out of Okami. Branching paths like a very large and complex Megaman stage. (Or Metroid or Castlevania 3 or Muramasa the Demon Blade).

When I was a kid I actually did think the NES would be made forever, and they would just keep making gam...

Genesis. Alien 3 help

You only get a password at the end of each level, and each level has about eight missions you’ll need to complete.

Are you certain you've reached level 3 and not just mission 3?

When was the last time you bought a game without knowing anything about it?

Without knowing anything at all about it? I think Body Harvest (N64) from the used store, circa 2002.
Without knowing it would disappoint me right away? Super Mario Galaxy or Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Untold Story of the Game Cartridge

It's amusing to hear about BusinessWeek talk about "The Smart Machine Revolution" comparing 70s tech to today's "smart" phones. I wonder what "smart" will look like in another 40 years. It reminds me of all the movements called post-this or modern that.

[QUOTE=Wallyworld]Maybe if the cart...

Archive.Org Is Letting Us Play Nearly 2400 DOS Games In Our Browsers

Interesting post from The New Yorker inspired by this. I like the points about cultural context and the positive/negative effects of "retro" labeling.
