Re: Sega Dreamcast/Sega Naomi emulation incoming for the Nintendo Switch!

Digital Foundry isn't hacking their Switch, ripping games, and then tearing into the source code. There will be easier ways to make a likely determination. Strikers 1945 on the Switch for instance has, knowing that the system is only ever going to be used on 16:9 displays, decluttered the game scre...

Re: Procedurally generated pirate game

I like the idea. I grew up when thjs idea was used out of necessity, but it has real pros: replayability of course, also near infinite world space, but also easy to adjust difficulty and hard to memorize or predict anything.

Re: Obscure Systems

While browsing AtariAge, someone mentioned a system called the Unisonic. I didn't remember it, so I looked it up. Unisonic was the manufacturer; the system's name was the Champion 2711. It used the same processor as the Intellivision, but it had a different graphics chip. This site has a good overv...

Re: Sega announces a new House of the Dead for the Arcades using Unreal Engine 4!

I do enjoy light gun games, so kudos to Nintendo if the Switch can make an accurate and fun game in that style. I am not a fan of moving a cursor - now you're talking a trackball or mouse setup.

Re: Sega announces a new House of the Dead for the Arcades using Unreal Engine 4!

Oh wow I would be loving this, but as Zeta X mentioned, so sure if they could provide light-gun style controls. At this point though I'd think I'd settle for moving a cursor around the screen! I believe the more modern (i.e. Wii Motion Plus and later) gyro controls allow for lightgun type shooting ...

Re: Obscure Systems

Been perusing this site while on break at my work a lot lately, and I found this strange little beauty.... http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=2&c=880 "The Tank Battle game produced by the AY-3-8710 chip from General Instruments, is often missing from available cartridges f...

Re: Star wars the last jedi spoilers ahead.

Luke being a broken, regretful individual makes good narrative sense, and imbues his character with a level of humanity that the series has never shown. I appreciate your insights. With Obi Wan, we saw another older recluse. Obi Wan had retreated from the affairs of the Universe, but not from the F...

Re: Star wars the last jedi spoilers ahead.

So The Last Jedi has like a 90% Fresh on Rotten Tomatos from critics, but only 50% from fans. I think people are too quick to dismiss the negative feedback. I liked the movie, but I hear and get the complaints over characters like Luke defying expectations about the character. Fans have a say about ...

Re: All these daggone wires!

That’s a heck of a console collection. Question to owners of The Master System. I make pretty decent money but a lot of financial obligations. Is the Master System worth picking up? I think so, my friend. I give it Zillion stars. That's a bad Master System joke, but I like it. You have a Genesis, s...

Re: Atari Flashbacks

Look for an Atari Jr with an a/v mod too. I think the Jr's have the easiest mod, so they are not hard to find if you do not want to mod a system you already have. I think when asked, Hyperion said something about the pin connectors being too rare. Some people did mod the Atari Flashback 2, but then ...
