Re: Who really owns CGI Characters?

Apparently its about facial motion capture tech in particular. It seems to go some company in China was licensing the tech out to Disney, but that company may not have acquired the tech legally in the first place. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/disney-facing-vfx-firms-injunction-bid-three...

Re: Obscure Systems

The Micromat uses vinyl records? Wow. It's got a Z80 under the hood, so that's pretty good for 1979. I still have my chess computer from around the same time, so it kinds makes sense. However, if all it displayed were chess moves or simple statements like 'check, would it still be a video console? A...

Re: Netflix Remaking Lost in Space!!?

That's neat. The original Lost in Space was kinda two different shows - the show it started out as and the show it quickly became. It started out as a straight forward heroic series, more like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, but quickly became the Doctor Smith / Will Robinson / and the Robot comedy...

The Switch as throwback gaming for adults

https://kotaku.com/the-nintendo-switch-gave-me-back-my-video-games-1821306662/amp A complimentary article on Kotaku on the Switch versus most of modern gaming. The gist is, many of us have grown up with video games, and games grew up with us. Now, as adults, we have only so much leisure time, but s...

https://retrobitch.wordpress.com/2017/12/12/original-80s-time-out-arcade-found-in-a-dead-mall-in-virginia/ In an odd bit of timing, workers rediscovered an old Time-Out arcade in the closed down Crossroads Mall in Roanoke, Virginia the other day. Re: 2017 for Nintendo - Good, Great or just okay

Recall we had this thread earlier this year about 'Does Nintendo Hate Money' http://videogamecritic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5084&t=16189 While selling 10 million Switch units is wonderful, Nintendo still gets criticism for the many features the Switch is missing. People sometimes say that Nin...

2017 for Nintendo - Good, Great or just okay

I think we can say it's been At least an okay year for Nintendo. The Switch is at what, 10 million unit sold? Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey seemed to be highly praised. The mini classics talked about. Yet it's also like a winning hand in poker - the idea is not just to win a small pot, ...
