Re: Atari Box update

Interesting - they do look like they gave a classic boxy Atari 2600 controller to an art student, and said, 'make it slick'. Several issues 1) The button is not raised up enough 2) Why not a button on each side for both right and left handed people? (or a button on the top of the joystick) 3) Why no...

Re: RIP Wii U 5th birthday!

The other reason is that Nintendo marketed the console poorly, resulting in lackluster sales. You don't want to spend millions making games for consoles that lack an install base. While I agree that install base leads to more games leads to larger install base .... I question the impact of marketin...

They may have saved some of IMdB's forum content.

Thanks! Movie chat does look like the old IMdB forums, with the forums going back several years at least.

Re: Battlefront 2 micro transactions Cancelled for realease!

This story has percolated up past gaming media now. Stories in mainstream media are ripping EA, its old executives who Don't care about the industry, and microtransactions in general and how deep a mess it is for the industry. Also that Disney, who is merchandising the heck out of Star Wars and need...

Re: Rampage: The Movie

Actually....I'm game for this. I agree on Battleship movie. What's worse is I have a Battleship video game based on the movie. Why? But Rampage - I am there with my large soda and popcorn. Its got the Rock, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Manu Bennett, so its got some good fun action stars right there....

Re: Battlefront 2 micro transactions Cancelled for realease!

This change did not include a large-scale overhaul of the rate at which players earn unlockable content, it just removed the ability to jump ahead by spending money. It only did so temporarily, as EA promised microtransactions would return in the future after the game had been fixed. This is from a...

Cool to see. Not cool that the thread opens up with 'how much does this go for?'.

Re: Online Gaming is a mess

Thanks for posting that Ars Technica article I was a big fan of the Lucasarts Pandemic games. In single player, you would level up - make so many head shots and earn a better rifle that made head shots even easier kind of thing. I think online, everyone was back on an even playing field. I didn't pl...

Re: This video is a must watch that exposes modern gaming shady trends!

Update: Star Wars Battlefront II has gotten positive reviews from critics, but is universally panned by users on Metacritic Interesting. I think there is just a fundamental difference with critics and users on all sorts of things. I just got a new smartphone, but I find critic reviews not all that ...

Re: Kiosks

$25 for the cart and $10 per game was totally reasonable. I believe I paid about $40 in that generation for many games. If I could have gotten the rewritable instead, it's a good deal relatively speaking. I too like the kiosk idea. Modems were pretty niche in 83, especially if you got an extra phone...
