Re: Sega Dreamcast/Sega Naomi emulation incoming for the Nintendo Switch!

Digital Foundry isn't hacking their Switch, ripping games, and then tearing into the source code. There will be easier ways to make a likely determination. Strikers 1945 on the Switch for instance has, knowing that the system is only ever going to be used on 16:9 displays, decluttered the game scree...

Re: Sega Dreamcast/Sega Naomi emulation incoming for the Nintendo Switch!

I doubt it's emulation. Psikyo has a pretty small library of games that run on this hardware. With the complexity of Dreamcast emulation and the small selection of titles that could take advantage of that investment, it's unlikely to be the most economical choice. The economies of scale just aren't ...

Re: 2018/1/17: Atari 5200: Pengo

The track-ball mention made me think of something. Have you ever tried the track-ball with Realsports Tennis?

It supports it according to the box, but I've never given it a try. It might transform what's otherwise a pretty poor 5200 game with the stock controller.

Re: Review Wish List

I suppose The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (I'd recommend the DX colorized rerelease) is a major omission. I'm not sure I'd call it a wish, but I'm sure readers are disappointed at times when they open the Game Boy section and don't see a review for one of the more popular Zelda entries. Probab...

I found a six pack of 6" extension cords in the hardware section of Wal-Mart yesterday. Thanks, I didn't realize these even existed.

Re: 2018/1/11: Playstation 4: Dirt 4, Yooka Laylee

With Dirt 1, I was disappointed that rally racing was downgraded from being the focus and with the experience simplified. But despite the limitations, I happily got all 1000 achievement points and had a great 20 hours or so with it. Dirt 2 though, Codemasters went all-in on trying to appeal to peopl...

Re: Super Retro-Cade (Retrobit)

They sadly got the 3:4 arcade ratio messed up for the vertical games. Going to "original size" in the screen settings for Air Duel for example, yields a very thin picture that's not nearly wide enough when it's supposed to look like a 90 degree rotated 4:3 display. It should look like this...

Re: Doing it wrong?

This part in Super Mario World. https://youtu.be/htFJTiVH5Ao?t=1h2m55s I always used to do it the hard way. I'd fly with the cape and stay above the screen safe from enemies, drop down at the last second before the main exit to fly under it, and then quickly try to regain some altitude so I could ge...

Re: Dirt 4 (PS4)

I assume you feel that way since they all but left rally racing behind with Dirt 2 and Dirt 3, where as it was still the primary focus with Dirt 1. If so, I suggest you reconsider Dirt 4. It's a return to a rally racing focused mainstream Dirt title, with the usual arcade style physics that Dirt is ...
