Re: Winter Games!

Ha, I enjoyed Krazy Ivan too! I've owned it for a while, and finally got around to beating it on all difficulties a couple years back. It's pretty basic in many ways, but kept me entertained. I love those early PlayStation titles. They had a fun, free-for-all spirit that got lost as the "rules&...

Re: Winter Games!

Two winter-themed games from the pre-crash that don't have reviews yet are: Intellivision - Mountain Madness Super Pro Skiing Atari 5200 - Pengo It'd be great to see those get coverage. And then there's Steel Harbinger , a wonderfully strange (and very Nineties) third-person shooter on the PS1. You ...

Re: 2017/12/3: Philips CD-i: Christmas Country

Awesome, a new CD-i review! That said, I haven't really this one (or if I did it was only for a couple of minutes), so I can't comment on the game itself. I have been playing a fair bit of CD-i lately, though -- I beat two European imports, Steel Machine and De Zaak van Sam, earlier this year -- so ...

Re: 2017/10/28: Atari 2600: Guardian, Ikari Warriors

Great to see two new reviews of classic-era VCS games! :D The only weird bit is the part in the Ikari Warriors review where you mention "the NES original". While the NES game is probably the best-known version, the "original" is really the original arcade game, of which the NES r...

Re: Best Sega Genesis Soundtracks?

The Genesis soundchip does a great job of what it does, i.e. FM synthesis, and in some ways I think it's aged very well. Comparing it to the SNES chip is sort of an apples-to-oranges comparison. I love SNES music as much as anyone, but for every great soundtrack (Chrono Trigger, ActRaiser, Spider-Ma...

Re: Missing Atari 2600 Reviews?

I know these qualify as ultra-rare, but I'd still like to know your opinion on them: BOMB games. https://www.atariage.com/company_page.html?CompanyID=10&SystemID=2600&SystemFilterID=2600 So far only Atari HQ and Tomorrow's Herors have reviewed one, and they have remarkably different opinion...

Re: Halloween Games?

Dr. Hauzer, a survival horror game, was recently fan-translated for the 3DO. In fact it's the only 3DO fan translation! I'd love to see a review of that one. (Critic, PM me if you want to know where to find it.)

PAL version of Airlock (Atari 2600) dumped; has upgraded graphics -- plus a nasty bug

Data Age's Airlock is a fairly well-known game, and unlike most people (including the Critic) I've always kind of liked it in a "poor man's underwater Pitfall" kind of way. But I had no idea that the PAL version was significantly different, and apparently hadn't been dumped until now: http...

Re: 2017/9/22: Jaguar: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure

Glad to see the wave of Pitfall reviews (and re-reviews) begin! I hope you'll be able to review the Sega CD version -- that one gets the best reviews from the Pitfall:TMA aficionados I know.

Re: 2017/9/4: 3DO: Twisted The Game Show

Always glad to see more 3DO reviews, even if it's a re-review. I remember having a modest amount of fun with one of these sorts of games on the 3DO, but I don't recall if it was this or Zhadnost. (Probably it was Zhadnost.)
