FailSafe (Atari 7800)

I've been playing this game for about a month now, and finally managed to finish it yesterday (it loops, but there is definitely an "ending" after you stop the missiles). It's a fantastic (and different) 7800 title, that takes some getting used to, but is a lot of fun when you get it. It's...

Re: Toys R Us files Chapter 11

Then again, people seem to have these same feelings when other big stores go out of business. Like when Walmart was killing all the department stores off in the late 90s, early 2000s. Those stores weren't very good either, but people still think they miss places like Ames, Caldor, etc. I imagine yo...

Re: Mini Classic Arcade Machines

Friends and family got me Asteroids, Centipede, and Frogger for Christmas. I have them right here next to the computer (I use them to play while waiting for the computer to start up). They're pretty neat interpretations with far better sound than graphics in most cases. Asteroids is more like Astero...

Re: Kitchen sink?

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but "kitchen sink" is what you throw in when everything is already included. That's what the saying is getting at. It's everything and the kitchen sink (or everything but the kitchen sink), which implies the something is near infinite or uncountable. It's ...

Re: Kitchen sink?

Going to have to specify that "Kitchen sink" doesn't include politics. "Other media" leaves "politics" a little more clearly outside of discussion, or at least requires someone to think "can he mean the like, media, media and their reporting of current events?"...

Re: Best Search Engines to use

I refuse to use google any more than I have to, as they have been pretty clearly making censorship and promotion choices based on a range of things (politics, money, etc.). I will not search on a site that is essentially knowingly keeping results back despite them likely being what I want to find. N...

Re: Last Call: Wii Shop closing - What should we download?

Since I know you've tried a few of these out, did any of the Wii Call of Duty ports offer map downloads? No, I don't think they ever did. I have, and play, all three of the Wii Modern Warfare type ones. I didn't play World at War or any others if there are others on there from before that, so I don...

Re: Last Call: Wii Shop closing - What should we download?

4. And, of course, which games to buy? I'm not too interested in Virtual Console games.. unless it's a super rare game, where the VC might be the only realistic way to play it. (Otherwise, I'd pay a little extra and get the physical copy on the original console.) But I'm definitely interested in to...

Re: Last Call: Wii Shop closing - What should we download?

No retail Wii games had DLC, but certain WiiWare games did. I believe some of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero games have paid DLC (and that it is still available). I added 5000 Wii points awhile ago in advance of this, so I can keep downloading this year. I will be saving enough to make a final NES o...

Re: The Sad State of Future Retro Gaming (and Managing Storage on New Consoles)

Retro gamers want to save every game - the best, the worst, and everything in the middle - every VIC 20 game, every Channel F game, every BBC Micro game. I had never thought about this before, but you're totally right. Comic book collectors will try to preserve even garbage, but then, not with any ...
