Re: 2018/5/2: Wii: The Monkey King

Let's hear your thoughts on my latest Wii review. This looks like a remake/update of Cloud Master for the Sega Master System. You might want to review that one as well. I've played the SMS game and it is challenging. There's a real "Gradius syndrome" where the situation is hopeless once y...

Reminds me of Wave Race on the N64.

Re: Best and Worst Console Designs

The other day I was marveling at what a non-intuitive console the PS4 is, which is when I got the idea for a pair of new specials: Top 10 Best Designed Consoles and Top 10 Worst Designed consoles. Maybe you guys can help me with this! I think of design as three basic factors: - ergonomics/ease of u...

Great game that is very challenging if you don't use any continues. I can survive maybe two or three stages before game over. I've loved this game on MAME for years.

Re: The Worst Fighting Game Ever Is Back..?

Is Shaq Fu worse than Karate on the 2600? http://atariage.com/software_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=259 How about RCA's Swordfight arcade game, based on the same hardware which powered the Studio II? Fight for Life on the Jaguar? That game where you were a pre-rendered robot? Never played any of these...

Re: Less Lag than original?

Would accomplishments in reduced lag emulation be considered cheating because of the change from the original console?

Re: Nintendo Ruined Video Games

Well there's a hot take, sure to stir up controversy. I only read page 1 of this 4 page article, but I presume that that's where the interesting part is anyway (I think the other 3 pages are all about the Wii U). While the author is vastly overgeneralizing -- and I really do not think video games w...

Re: 2018/3/22: Turbografx-16: Space Harrier, Turrican

Both the Turbografx and Genesis use software scaling. Neither has support for hardware scaling of sprites.

Any smoother scaling in the TG16 ports is from better programming not better hardware support.

Re: 2018/3/22: Turbografx-16: Space Harrier, Turrican

In my opinion, when comparing Sega arcade games that used the System16/32 engine on the Genesis and Turbo, the TG/PC-Engine versions are always better IMO. I think a lot of it is because the Turbo had significantly better graphic scaling support than the Genesis (better music also). It's really evi...

Re: NES Classic Impressions

I sent the system back today to get a full refund. I can see the game the ebay seller is trying to play. Obviously there's a good chance the buyer won't notice it's a fake, and he'll make out like a bandit. When I told him it wanted a refund, he offered a 50% refund and let me keep the system. Obvi...
