What is your Holy Grail?

Now that North American PS1 RPG collection is almost complete (still need Shadow Tower!), I’ve started focusing on the Sega Saturn. Specifically my favorite genre of game to play on the Saturn: shoot em ups. Now, anyone that knows about Saturn shooters knows there are dozens of *very* expensive Japa...

Re: Going Home

Gone Home (for me) was just a small step above garbage. I can understand being sticker shocked, but the truly outrageous thing was reviewers and mainstream game critics giving it Game of the Year nominations. Yes, I get that it's subjective, but in a game with pretty banal puzzles, you better get th...

Re: Play as many games as you can or play less games to death ?

Like many gamers (and specifically game *collectors*) I have OCD when it comes to gaming. The same part of my brain that convinced me that not only did I have to collect all the PS1 RPGs, but they had to be BLACK LABEL with the manual and in new cases is the part of brain that runs wild when I play ...

Re: Question on the Wii U if it was powerful enough to handle PS4/Xbox One in mind games, or would have it been impossib

The more important thing, imo, is that even when Nintendo *can* run a console technical benchmark like Doom 2016, it does so at half the framerate of the competition. In general, Nintendo consoles will never be the best place to play multiplats because Nintendo slumps on power to save during develop...

Re: Retro Freak/Amazon delivery

I didn't mention this, but I did get the update from Retro Freak website. Version 2.5, I believe. I'm assuming that's why overheating hasn't been an issue for me.

Re: Question on the Sega Saturn vs the Sega Dreamcast library?

Retro STrife spoke the truth on comparing genres between the Dreamcast and Saturn. Only fighting games is going to be an actual contest. Everything else is pretty cut and dry. I think Inwould give the slightest edge to the Dreamcast's 2D fighters; SF III Third Strike, Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2, The...

Re: Retro Freak/Amazon delivery

What a coincidence! I just barely purchased a Retro Freak from eBay about two weeks ago and I've been playing it pretty much non-stop. I *love* this thing. The most important distinction of the RF console and the Retron 5 is the Retro Freak can load ROMs on a micro SD card and the R5 cannot. That wa...

Resident Evil 7 - PSVR

Like many here, I'm a classic "retro" gamer. A game is best played with a controller and no gimmicks. When the PS4 accessory VR headset was announced, I remember rolling my eyes and mentioning to a couple friends that I hoped it failed so devs could just get back to creating traditional ga...

Re: Does Nintendo hate money?

Nintendo doesn't hate money. They just love scalpers! Yes, a company will *absolutely* create artificial scarcity to create buzz for themselves. I'm just as baffled that people don't understand this as those same people are with the opposite scenario. The NES Classic sold out in minutes and Nintendo...

Re: Limited Run Games

I like the *concept* of LRG more than I actually like them in practice. Along with a happy collector putting a physical box on his shelf of a formerly digital only release, there's the inflated after market. The problem with Limited Run Games and the after market is that it happens immediately. Chec...
