Re: 2017 for Nintendo - Good, Great or just okay

A buddy of mine got an extra SNES Classic months ago and sold it to me for MSRP. I’m giving it to my kids for Christmas and while I was excited to have it, it just made me realize the absolute canyon between the quality that was expected from Nintendo 25 years ago and their output over last decade (...

Re: What is your Holy Grail?

The best version of Galaxy Force II would be the 3DS version. There’s also a supposedly great Sega Ages 2500 version on Ps2 that has tons of options, but I don’t own that one so I can’t personally vouch for it. I’m a huge Saturn fan so I was really looking forward to importing it from Japan, but it’...

Re: Wii U the new Dreamcast?

I don’t like the Dreamcast/Wii U comparison. System-wise, the comparison makes sense, but only on the lack of success and the short life span. But that’s where the similarity ends, I believe. The Dreamcast was pretty powerful and ahead of its time in terms of online capabilities. Nintendo, on the ot...

Re: Policenauts (Sega Saturn)

I have played Policenauts on both ps1 and Saturn now and there’s no question that Snatcher is the better game. It’s probably my favorite visual novel. If you weren’t really into Snatcher I can’t imagine you’d dig Policenauts, but thats just me.

Re: What is your Holy Grail?

I can empathize with peeps who want Panzer Dragoon Saga and the Working Designs games on the Saturn. The system and games sold so poorly in North America that finding anything worthwhile at a yard sale, etc is nearly impossible. You can hope someone sells a lot cheap on Craig’s list or something, bu...

Re: What is your Holy Grail?

Have you ever played Raiden Dx? It’s like a remix of Raiden II. I just bought it not too long ago for JP PS1. Sure, it isn’t exactly like having an arcade unit, but tipping a TV on is side to TATE mode and using an arcade stick... not a bad compromise!

It’s a great game, btw.

What is your Holy Grail?

Now that North American PS1 RPG collection is almost complete (still need Shadow Tower!), I’ve started focusing on the Sega Saturn. Specifically my favorite genre of game to play on the Saturn: shoot em ups. Now, anyone that knows about Saturn shooters knows there are dozens of *very* expensive Japa...

Re: Going Home

Gone Home (for me) was just a small step above garbage. I can understand being sticker shocked, but the truly outrageous thing was reviewers and mainstream game critics giving it Game of the Year nominations. Yes, I get that it's subjective, but in a game with pretty banal puzzles, you better get th...

Re: Play as many games as you can or play less games to death ?

Like many gamers (and specifically game *collectors*) I have OCD when it comes to gaming. The same part of my brain that convinced me that not only did I have to collect all the PS1 RPGs, but they had to be BLACK LABEL with the manual and in new cases is the part of brain that runs wild when I play ...
