2013/11/7: Game Boy: Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King

It's been a while since I've seen it, but wasn't the entire point of the movie that Jack isn't as good at Christmas as he is at Halloween? I think the fact that he makes it awkward is the storyline.

Soundtrack CDs

I have the official soundtracks to three DDR games that I ordered from Japan. I also have about 3g worth of video-game music on my hard drive, about half from official soundtracks and half remixes.

I was in Japan in 2008 and noticed a lot of the record stores have special sections o...

EGM 1993 Tidbits

I'm such an idiot. I subscribed to EGM and Nintendo Power from around 1989-1995, and GamePro and VG&CE during some of that time as well, and I kept every single one of them. Then when I moved from my parents' house to my own place in 1995, I threw them all out. Biggest mistake ...

Dark Escape arcade game

Has anyone played this new arcade game? It's not often I'm impressed by an arcade game anymore, but Namco really went all out to make this one a special experience that consoles can't touch.

For one, it's in 3D (glasses required), inside a curtained booth a ala "Lost World." It's ...

Classic arcades making a comeback?

Next week, in my city (Columbus, Ohio), there's a business called 16-Bit Bar + Arcade opening. It's going to have all classic games (check its Facebook page for a list) as well as a gaming-themed bar. The location is in an increasingly hip section of the downtown area. In addition,...

Do you watch video game credits? How about cut-scenes?

I sit through the credits, but only to see what comes next. The credits themselves are usually quite boring.

Now, for movies, I always watch the credits with interest, for several reasons: to hear music from the soundtrack; to see the names of people I recognized in small p...

2013/7/13: NES: Contra Force, Duck Tales

It's funny that you thought Ducktales was challenging. I haven't played it since I was in high school, but I remember back then, I rented the game and finished it within an hour. I'm guessing I probably couldn't do that today.

2013/6/15: Wii: Cruis'n, Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, Rhythm Heaven Fever

As a rhythm-game aficionado, I had a much-different take on Rhythm Heaven Fever. While it doesn't have the depth of a lot of other rhythm games, I still thought it was very creative, funny, and fun to play. The challenge isn't extreme, but aiming for perfect runs is a worthy goal. ...

Return of the Typo Thread!

In your Off Road Fury 4 review, you've got another "compliment" that should be "complement." Thanks.

Super Mario Bros. Was an Arcade Game?

I remember seeing Super Mario Bros. in an arcade in Dayton, Ohio, before I ever played it on the NES. I played it last year at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. I got about halfway through it and as far as I could tell, it was identical to the NES version, graphics-wise and difficul...
