Re: Classic vs Modern Gaming: Where's the line?

I look at gaming in 3 groups. I think everything released from ps1 to the original xbox as classic. Everything before that is retro. Everything after the original xbox is modern. I just can't group original xbox with atari that just doesn't sit right with me. This is a good point as well. Lumping e...

Re: Classic vs Modern Gaming: Where's the line?

Should there be 'classic' and 'modern' gaming sub forums on here? Should there instead be forums dedicated to each 'decade' of consoles (per the way the Critic divides the consoles on his front page)? This is an interesting question...but I think I would actually separate by generation, rather than...

Amazing that the day I buy Spirit of Speed 1937, you post a re-review of the game and still give it an F. I haven't played it yet, so I can't even argue. Well, it won't be the first game I own that you give a failing grade!

Re: Game Review Recommendations?

Since I've said it in another thread, I'll repeat it here: I'd love to see a review of a Bond game or two. I'd suggest Everything or Nothing (probably Gamecube, or maybe PS2) and Bloodstone (PS3). You could do The Duel on the Genesis - you can literally beat the game in under 30 minutes. Uncharted W...

Re: Anyone played "Kings Bounty" on Genesis?

Thanks, Rev. Looks like those reviews are all pretty strong as well. Perhaps I'll have to venture back and see if that copy is still in stock.

Why no "System Reviews" on the portable systems?

One of the things I love about this site is the reviews on the old systems, not just the games. Sure, it would be great if the reviews were dated, and some of the collectability information is due for an update, but overall they give a wonderful view of each system and allow the reader to understand...

Re: Any word on a new James Bond game?

There seems to be lots of speculation and wishing about a new game, but nothing concrete. At least, nothing that I've seen. Please, direct me to something definitive if you've seen it! On a related note, I have noticed that The Critic reviewed a couple Bond games on Atari systems and Colecovision, G...

Anyone played "Kings Bounty" on Genesis?

I saw this title at a game store today and was tempted. I quickly looked, and was disappointed to see it had not been officially reviewed on the site. Sega 16 has a rather ostentatious review, but it gives the game 10 out of 10. Anyone here played it, and willing to give me a quick review?

Re: Modern Gaming Headaches

You've hit on exactly the reason I play my classic consoles far more often than my PS3 or 360 - almost all of the times I play video games are in 60 minute or less increments, and the majority are less than that, maybe 40 minutes or less. The install and load times just kill me. I can turn on my Gen...

Re: When did having more than one system become common?

I think the Rev is about right. I have never sold a console, so I always had older generation stuff around, but it wasn't until about 2 years ago that I had two consoles from the same generation. Unless you count having a fully backwards-compatible PS2 while still owning my N64. And I haven't bought...
