Re: New Super Nintendo Game Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter

This game looks like it's trying to break out of the SNES while the original SFII completely fit there.

Re: Should original Xbox review be updated to reflect its poor reliability?

fwiw, a few years back I found an XB 2001 at a thrift store for 5 (five!) bucks. It boots up but won't read discs.

Re: 2017/1/22: Wii U: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

I am amazed that VGC and the folks that enjoy this page gave this horrific game such high marks. This game is probably the only game I have ever rated a F-. I have never dis-liked a game this much. Waste of money and time. That's fine, but it would be helpful if you explain why you don't like the g...

Re: Introducing the Nintendo Switch

There was a justification to the price. You were getting 4k support, a multi media blu-ray player, a graphical upgrade, etc. The switch is behind in all of those. This isn't really a direct rebuttal but it got me thinking about why I'm so interested in the Switch. It's an especially appealing desig...

Re: Super Mario Odyssey.

I was referring more to the design of the console itself than all the other issues and the fact it now looks like some awkward transition from the Wii to the Switch.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey.

The Switch is going to do a lot better than the Wii U. I always liked the Wii U despite its problems, but the Switch is so elegantly designed it makes Wii U look like a necessary mistake. And they're bringing out the software to back it up.

Re: Why wasn't Mario 64 a pack-in game?

Just found an old listserve thingy from early in Sept '96; Mario 64 was 59.99 at ToysRUs. https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/rec.games.video.nintendo/o8SHY9FIExE In Nintendo's defense, they lowered the price of the console from $250 to $200 at the last minute - as recently as a few months bef...

Re: Super Mario Sunshine (Gamecube)

Mario Sunshine is better and worse than Mario 64: The pitfall deaths and 100-coin missions are excruciating (I don't remember the level names but the one with the beach and the mini-level where you ride a sandbird was insufferable for getting 100 coins). But it also has the platform mini-stages with...

Re: Why wasn't Mario 64 a pack-in game?

I have the feeling Nintendo just didn't want the console to be more expensive than the Saturn and PS1. Either that or they wanted to spare themselves the embarrassment of months of people buying only a Mario-bundled N64 and no additional games. Okay, that's a bit of snark. If anything they probably ...

Re: Top 10 Favorite Genesis Games

It would be more interesting to see a top 10 list of third party Genesis games, since most of the greatest ones are by Sega (All but one of the OP's top ten).
