New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)
One more thing, how is the 3D effect in the game, Adamant?
Barely noticeable. The intro, which has a 3D model of Peach's castle, is the only place I actually noticed there actually WAS an effect.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS)

Having a Japanese 3DS pays off. This game came out in Japan today, as a simultaneous cart-and-digital-download release. I picked up the digital release: Not only did it save me a hefty shipping fee and import tax, but the digital version ALSO comes with a free port of the arcade Donkey Kong.
<b...

2012/7/27: Atari 7800: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Junior, Impossible Mission
Seeing how Impossible Mission can't be beaten due to its glitch, on top of the laundry list of problems you gave, don't you think you should be giving it an F? I mean, the glitch kills the playability of the game in its way and I know you have no tolerance for that (after all, ...

Conkers Bad Fur Day

Can add that the acting is a lot more tired than before, too. Given that huge chunks of the game are essentially short comedy movies, lesser acting really makes for a less enjoyable experience.

Diablo 3 Real Money auctions

Why no more console reviews?
IIRC, Dave only reviews non-current consoles. That way he has perspective on their impact lifetime start-to-finish.

You probably won't see console reviews for the 360 or PS3 until Microsoft and Sony release new systems.
Actually, he did write r...

Your Video Gaming Rules?

- Save/restore state functions in modern emulations of classic games are the devil. They ruin the game, and there is no excuse for using them in under any circumstances. Their inclusion in a title is always a negative. (Freeze state functions do not fall under this. Those are practical)

- W...

Has the 3DS novelty worn off?

The 3D feature was always just a gimmick. In some games it looks good and adds to the immersion a bit, in other games it just gets in the way and screws with your vision (I remember 3D Classic Xevious being hailed as a game where the 3D adds a lot, but in that game the effect just disorients me a...

Jurassic Park 3: Island Attack (GBA)
Game Boy A & B are rigidly mapped to A & B on the SuperNes pad to match the letters, which makes for a very uncomfortable layout for any game where you'll be routinely using both buttons together (Imagine running and jumping in a platformer using A & B on a Super...

2012/6/15: Wii: Dino Strike, Fortune Street, Need For Speed Nitro
How does Fortune Street compare to Mario Party? Is it the same game or is it different?
Very different. As the Critic notes in the review, it's pretty similar to Monopoly.

And yeah, it's indeed an excellent game. The Fortune Street series has been around in Jap...
