Games that you've beaten in 2016

I try to do this every year, since I'm always interested to read which games people saw all the way through. Mine include: -Fallout 4 -Dark Souls 3 -Uncharted 4 -GTA 5 -Robo Warrior (NES) -River City Tokyo Rumble (3DS) Though my list is somewhat small, a few of those games were ridiculously large in...

Re: 2016/12/20: Playstation 4: Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 1, Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 2

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying that these compilations are the definition of missed opportunity. With the insane amount of space available on a PS4/XB0 disk, why would they not go all out and offer a comprehensive history of Atari? Why not include lost gems from the Atari ST, 7800, Lynx, ...

Re: Why did you go back?

For me, a big part of the love for retro gaming is pushing the power button, pushing start, and being able to jump into the game in a matter of seconds. I don't know whose bright idea it was to replace that with minutes of intro screens, but it's one of the things that I hate most about modern gamin...

Re: Favorite Things about Video Games

Favorite Things -Fair difficulty! I love games that are brutally challenging without feeling cheap (The Souls series) -well-paced checkpoints in 8/16-bit games. -the soothing sounds of the amazing SNES sound chip! -water-cooler moments (Master-D's head explosion, hamster in the microwave, dog crashi...

Re: Great Moments in Gaming

A few big ones, all of them from Final Fantasy VI: -the mode 7 intro where you're walking through the snow-covered landscape as the opening credits roll. -the "end of the earth," waking up a year later as Celes is on a deserted island with Cid. -the end credits. Who would have thought that...

Re: Favorite "Guilty Pleasure" Video Game

I'll never understand the hatred for Friday the 13th (NES). It's actually one of my favorite games for the system: it controls well enough, has great atmosphere, creepy music, and is very unique! People complain about the rock, which you only have as a weapon for the first minute until you upgrade t...

Re: Will Sega Ever Release Another Console?

Sony and Microsoft have been tripping over themselves to push the limits of console hardware, and to what end? Sure the graphics look great, but playing these games is a miserable experience, thanks to buggy games, constant updates, mandatory installations, online requirements, etc. I'm hoping that...

Re: Confess Your Unpopular Video Game Opinions

This has been an excellent thread. Lots of opinions, and very little pushbacks because they are just opinions. 1. I think the 8 bit computers are an underappreciated lost branch on the video game family tree. PCs and the NES really dominated the market over the 1980s, but did not carry on the ecosy...

Re: Games That Need Sequels/Reboots/Remakes Thread 2: Electric Boogaloo

There are several underrated NES gems that beg for an update: 1). Faxanadu. Though it has flaws (the stiffness of the controls, the weird jump mechanics), I have always had a soft spot for this game! Awesome music, cool weapons/magic, and great graphics! It was also a lot of fun! A remake/reimaginin...
