What is the most important game of each generation?

I'd replace Final Fantasy VII with Super Mario 64 or Tomb Raider for being practically the first lush 3D games to really hit the mainstream. I might even bump up Tomb Raider over 64 just because of the big icon Lara was. She was part of the big push to turn video games into something a bit more adul...

Sonic Vs. Mario VGC grades

It's simply because Mario usually ends up being better, although I'll give a slight edge to the 16-bit Sonic since it had a damn trilogy of fast-paced bliss against the very tired Super Mario World which just felt like a retread.

But I think this a good point, because post-2010 Mario is st...

What ever happened to...?

Because I'm a terrible person that wants to see Segatorius blow his head off,I'll just list some old Big N IP's that just vanished.

BWii: Battalion Wars II was the last of the Battalion...

Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio?

@Terry/Marriott Guy: Nor do I, my guess is s/he got tired of being heckled for exhausting the fora with too many threads and for so many damn names (although Lurking Grue is the alternate I remember best)

Don't forget Stalin/Kim/aa although I admit I'm pretty sure he was banned, sinc...

The Advantages Of Cartridges Over CDs: A Look Back At An Old Thread

I can think of a counter to this.

The NES systems seem to need a refurbishing first if you want 'em to last.

My Saturn is a CD system, and still works perfectly 20 years after it was made.

Explain the appeal of old school Sonic

Gonna have to disagree with Mario not having the eye-candy

But I'll chime in that old Sonic was faster, shinier, and much simpler than Mario. The problem that Post 1999 Sonic games have (even the 2D ones) would have to be SEGA's Complexity Addiction in adding all these wonky mechanics and...

How Old Is Retro?

I agree with that (the above post). Vintage applies to just about everything before the NES at this point, and soon enough the NES itself will be vintage (what with it turning 30 in 2016,and it's Japanese original already being 30)

@TLN: But with software always pushing the envelope anywa...

How Old Is Retro?

I'm personally gonna go with 10 years release, expired for 5 years as retro, making the PS2 not count since that one was only last year just discontinued.

But GameCube and Xbox definitely have that kind of "pushed aside for a while and only just starting to be looked at nostalgically again"...

How do my reviews compare?

Reviewing A Reviewer By N64Dude

Videogamecritic
Since: 1999
Grade: A+

It's difficult to find a good critic of anything anymore. Be it books, video games, or dare I say it films, the surfing the vast web for a good review,is like being on a ship in the ocean looking fo...
