Who isn't to be honest. I'm having a hard time choosing between the Blue album and Pinkerton. Both? Go both.

Best Mixed Albums Ever?

Since we talked about the loudness war and all the terribly mixed albums, which albums are the best for headphone listening? This can be any genre, including video game music. Here's my list Massive Attack-Mezzanine Fleet Foxes-Self titled Rage Against the Machine-Self titled Deftones-White Pony Wil...

Re: Loudness Wars?

Idk if I can completely agree with that. While I do agree 21st century games have had compression, I own a good amount of VG albums, many of which do not have compression. Do you know of any major examples where VG music was compressed? (not judging just curious) Anyway, I was listening to "Las...

Re: Loudness Wars?

You know what doesn't have as big of a loudness wars problem as modern music? VIDEO GAMES!!! Sure, some of the earlier ones had limited range, but I'll give them a pass because the resources were primitive. This is especially true for the GBA. But for many video game soundtracks, they sound so flesh...

Re: Forsaken 64

Playing this again, and after further review, I think it's a bad game. The maze like stages are awfully designed, you can't tell where you're supposed to go, the save system is god awful, and the chest system only lets you use one cheat. But the worst part is starting up the game. It takes TWO MINUT...

Re: Loudness Wars?

Let's try something else. Can anyone give me examples of albums with GREAT mixing, mastering and overall production values? I'll list some Rage Against the Machine-self titled Daft Punk-Random Access Memories Anything by Vampire Weekend Most of Radiohead's catalog, especially OK Computer and Kid A P...

It's also quotable as hell too. "Onett police are infamous for closing roads if something is going on. We are going for the world record." Makes me burst out laughing every time I see that quote.

Re: Loudness Wars?

From what I've researched, many people agree the "loudness" war peaked in the mid 2000s. I do agree that it's gotten a bit better, though I'm disappointed bands like Arcade Fire haven't expanded dynamically. The Suburbs is brickwalled throughout, which sucks because the music is incredible...

Re: Loudness Wars?

I remember reading about this for the first time more than ten years ago. The article said that Arctic Monkeys' debut album(which I love) was a good example of little range in volume, compared with Nevermind from fifteen years earlier. Did that happen to be from Alan Wilder of Depeche Mode fame? He...
