Re: What defines a "shelf collector?"

Never heard the term before, but I guess I am one. I never sell my games. I don't think I have too many that are super valuable except maybe Panzer Dragoon Saga, but why should I sell it? I paid my $50 and I've likely got another 35+ years to live or so. I may wish to play it again. What's wrong wit...

Re: SNES/Genesis Sales

The 29 million total sales figure is almost certainly incorrect. I can't find the source right now, but I remember that being "as of 1995" or something to that effect. There is a GamePro scan online showing 14 million US sales as of 1994. http://www.nytimes.com/1998/03/14/business/internat...

Re: No Love for Alone in the Dark?

Started playing Alone in the Dark (3DO) the other night, what an exceptional game for its time. Im trying to be unbiased with it, and play it strictly from a 90's POV, it I cant imagine what people thought back then. Fully rendered backgrounds with 3D polygon graphics? Must have blown people's mind...

Re: I Doubt Shenmue III will ever see the light of day

@Banjo - Sony has CONFIRMED that they are funding the rest of Shenmue 3. They used Kickstarter to gauge interest. And since it's one of the most successful Kickstarter projects ever, I assume Sony is happy with the result. The Sony backing is why this won't come to the Xbox. Anyway, you're right to...

Re: Good Resident Evil clones?

Great suggestions. I especially like Obscure. Never even heard of the game before but it does look interesting. Unfortunately the cheapest copy is about $50 on ebay right now, but I'll keep an eye out for an auction. Strangely, the sequel seems widely available. Seems pretty much universal that I sh...

Re: Sonic Wii Options

I'd have to vote for Sonic and Sega All Star Racing. I have the game for PC and it's pretty fun. It's a pretty standard racing game in the Mario Kart vein, but elevated by the colorful, cheerful classic Sega style graphics. Unfortunately most of the Sonic games aren't too hot. I have Sonic Unleashed...

Most an least comfortable PORTABLE?

I included a poll with some of the more popular options, but it is no way inclusive of all the options so let's post them and why. Most comfortable: For extended play, I think I'll have to say the good old Game Gear. It's large, and has a nicely curved back for grip while still not actually weighing...

Good Resident Evil clones?

I've been playing through the Resident Evil games(just finished 4 and Code Veronica this month) and am interested in more games like the classic series? After 4, I realized how much I prefer the somewhat more puzze-ly cerebral gameplay of the original. I've got a couple on my radar already. Deep Fea...

Re: What is the appeal of Fighting games? Do people actually like these things? (with POLL)

Fighting games do pretty much suck as single player games. They were made to be competitive two player games. Back in the day arcades were filled with people playing Street Fighter II and you didn't have to play against the CPU. I used to really like them. Mastering them can be quite difficult and r...
