Re: NBA Action 94 Correction

If you're interested in other 16-bit basketball games with unusual perspectives, Konami's NBA Give 'n' Go on the SNES (based on their Run and Gun arcade game) might be worth checking out, although I don't know how rewarding it'll be. It's in pseudo-3D (but doesn't use Mode 7), with a nearly player-...

Re: Windjammers (Playstation 4, 2017) (Neo Geo, 1994)

Yeah, definitely. It's also a great game to pop in when you want something quick to play. Since each match is under 5 minutes, you could easily pop it in during those moments when you only have like 15 minutes to spare. The past few days I've been finding myself playing it as a "warm-up" t...

Re: Two new Atari 7800 games from Atari Age

Super Circus Atari Age - this one is pretty much everything I was hoping for. Retains the classic spirit with a lot of nifty new bells and whistles. Naturally it supposed paddle controllers. Crystal Quest - I own the Crystal Castles arcade game, so had to have this. Love the concept and look, but t...

Windjammers (Playstation 4, 2017) (Neo Geo, 1994)

Windjammers just got a physical release on PS4 courtesy of Limited Run Games. This is the first game that I've bought directly from LRG (I also picked up Night Trap for PS4 earlier this year, but got it from a reseller). The game was also released as a downloadable title earlier this year for $15. T...

Re: What to do with old video game consoles

Yeah, that's a painful read. When "the environment" is your only reason for not trashing your console, who can have any respect for your opinion... I also dislike her advocacy for the "pawn shop" method of selling your consoles (whether it be Gamestop, or online pawn methods), si...

I'm intrigued.. I don't usually collect these standalone systems or Pong-type systems, but I'll keep an eye out for this one.

Not to get into the middle of a debate between a gamer and a significant other, but... Nah nah, it's not a real debate, so don't worry about that. Very casual. Like I could peel it off tonight and she might be mildly annoyed for 2 minutes and then be over it. But I'd still prefer to do it mutually,...

Re: Final Fantasy Origins (FF1, PS1)

Thanks for this review. I'm a big fan of the FF series, having played and beat FF 4 through 10, and 12 too. I've always planned to go back and play FF 1, just to experience the original, but haven't gotten there yet. I've wavered about the best way to play it. Part of me wants to try the NES game, s...

Re: Christmas Loot

Nice score on the Retro Gamer subscription. After a few issues, you'll have to let us know what you think and if it's worth the expense. I got a nice sound bar, which I wanted for gaming in the living room. I used to use a surround sound system, but it's too much clutter in the living room. Then, Sn...

Re: Pick only one console per generation.

I'm taking this to mean what we'd personally pick to own today (i.e., based on personal preference rather than actual best, and based on today rather than back in the day). Also I didn't factor in backwards compatibility because it'd feel like cheating. With that: 1st Odyssey. Not much worth playing...
