Re: 2016/1/26: Game Gear: Aleste II

Interesting review. I've never played this, but your review makes me want to. I should mention though, since you called this the undisputed champ of portable shooters, that I've seen several debates on message boards between whether the GG Aleste games or Judgement Silversword (Wonderswan) is the be...

Re: Magnavox CD-i

I'd agree with sticking with "Philips CD-i" because that's how it is colloquially known among gamers, even if certain models are labeled as Magnavox (which is just a subsidiary of Philips anyway). Most reference sources, such as Winnie Forster's Encyclopedia of Game Machines and the Digita...

CD-i reviews! Always glad to see those, even if the titles are a bit, er, unexpected. :) Hope to see more in the coming months. I second goldenband's comments. The CD-i was a system I bought very early in my collecting life (early 2000s), so strangely enough, it's one of my favorite classic systems...

Re: Gamefaqs Best Game Ever Poll

Update time. So, as predicted in a prior post--true to Gamefaqs form--Nintendo is killing it (even when it shouldn't), Square has followed close behind, and Metal Gear Solid was the last non-Nintendo/Square series to survive. No surprises, right?.... Or wait... what's this game Undertale??? I have t...

Re: Your thoughts on Virtual Reality

My perspective on VR is heavily influenced by my own experience spending an hour in a giant 30'x30' virtual reality lab at Brown University back in 2010. Before then, I didn't know what to think of VR--it was such an abstract concept and my "visual" of it was based more on science fiction ...

Re: Halo 5 Paraphernalia Special

Very cool. Would the Xbox One even exist today without the success of the first Halo? I think it's very possible that the Xbox would have been a one-off, failed foray into gaming for Microsoft without Halo selling the system. Special Bonus : Finally, after years of demanding photos, our first glimps...

Re: Gamefaqs Best Game Ever Poll

While I enjoy these tournament-style polls by Gamefaqs, they become pretty predictable (and, at times, annoying) because they turn into popularity contests. I wish they were more objective. For example, Gamefaqs voters love Nintendo more than life itself-- you can bet on the Final Four having at lea...

Re: What video game system's success shocked you?

The Wii. I personally didn't see the appeal of a system with five year old graphics and inaccurate controllers that caused arm pain. Wii Sports was fun (the bowling anyway) but that was it. Yet everyone was hooked on the damn system and and it was hard to find in supply for years after release. I e...

Re: 2015/11/27: Playstation 3: Final Fantasy XIII

First off, great review. Solid reviews like this lend a lot of credibility to the RPG Crew and show that there can be a team to supplement the Critic's reviews without sacrificing quality. I'm a big Final Fantasy fan and have spent more time on it than any series, having played and beaten most of th...

Re: 2015/10/8: NES: Tecmo Bowl, Monster in my Pocket, Terminator, The

I never realized that you hadn't reviewed Tecmo Bowl, so I figured it was a re-review when I first read it. Good to see, though. I got Tecmo Super Bowl as a kid when it was new, and hopefully I'll be playing it til I'm 90. It ranks in my top 3 favorite games for sure. But since I played TSB first, i...
