Re: Anyone going to Retro World Expo in Connecticut tomorrow (Oct. 3)?

Here's my follow-up... For those that live within a few hours of Connecticut and missed Retro World this year, don't make the same mistake next year! The convention was amazing; loved it. The best part was the atmosphere... just being surrounded by an entire convention center full of games and passi...

Re: 2015/10/5: Playstation 4: Madden NFL 16

Retro Strife- Presentation-related features like cheerleaders, celebrations (which I forgot about), and half-time shows can be a real treat if done right. Have you played any Neo Geo sports games? Have you ever played the old Tecmo football games for the NES? I STILL love to watch those little cut-...

Re: 2015/10/5: Playstation 4: Madden NFL 16

Critic, with all due respect, I think you're one of the few serious sports gamer that cares about halftime shows, cutaways to fans, automatic instant replays, measurements, and all that other "TV-style presentation" mumbo jumbo. The rest of us just click through those as fast as we can. Su...

Re: Will Hard Drives Be Collectible in the Future?

A good thought, Rev. I'm totally with you on this. I do think it's a future reality for collectors. There are tons of download-only games out there. One day, those games will disappear off the Xbox, Wii, and Playstation servers. Once they do, the only way to get them and play them will be by owning ...

Anyone going to Retro World Expo in Connecticut tomorrow (Oct. 3)?

Anyone going to Retro World Expo in CT tomorrow (October 3)? It's the first year of this convention. The convention is dedicated to retro gaming, and it has vendors, panelists, tournaments, freeplay areas, a collector's auction, video game-related bands, etc etc. (Personally, I'm looking forward to ...

Re: Whats the best Phillips CD-I system version?

A little late, but hopefully this is helpful... The CD-i was one of the first systems I collected for, so I have a soft spot for it, and I love and embrace its crappiness. When I got my CD-i about 10 or so years ago, I wondered the same question as you. I spent a lot of time researching the differen...

Handy Websites for Video Gamers?

Got any useful gaming websites that you like to use? I like websites that serve a unique purpose, meeting some niche need in my gaming life. There's ones we all know - like gamefaqs.com - but here's a few others I like and figured I'd share, just in case other gamers hadn't discovered them yet: 1. [...

Re: Disc scratching consoles

Like Tron, years ago I heard rumors that putting your PS2 vertical could cause scratches. So I always left mine horizontal. Plus, a vertical spinning disc just seems unnatural, so I lay all my consoles flat just to be safe. As for disc scratching consoles, it only happened to me once, about 5 years ...

Re: Definitive Football Game

Jon: To me, there is no debate here... Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES. Since you didn't mention it in your original post, I'm assuming you haven't played it. Get on that ASAP. As for NFL 2K5, great game, way ahead of its time. A couple years ago, I played through about 2 full seasons of it, and I can ...

Re: Steam Machines?

I just learned about these for the first time a week ago, which made me realize how out of touch I've become with the modern gaming industry. To me, the appeal of them is being about to sit on your couch and play, with the gaming streamlined almost as well as it is on consoles. Sure, you can hook up...
