Re: Confess Your Unpopular Video Game Opinions

More unpopular here than other forums, but 2017 was one of the absolute best years for gaming ever. 2017 was unreal. Absolutely true. Great year for Nintendo in particular, but there were tons of classics for other platforms as well. I haven't thought about it enough to say whether 2017 is the best...

Re: Working out while playing games?

It's a great thought in theory, but the reality is that both are active activities, so you sacrifice the quality of both when you pair them together. If your goal is to have a good workout, you can't pair it with reading, playing games, or other active activities. Pair it with some passive activity ...

Re: Should box sets be reviewed together or separately?

My thought is that a game should be reviewed as it stands -- meaning, if it's a compilation then it should be reviewed as a compilation, rather than reviewed on its individual parts. This is how every other review site does it as well. I agree, however, that Portal is a great game that could have go...

Re: MICROVISION (1979) - World’s First Handheld System - Review of System and All 12 Games

The overlays could differ, mine had the rounded holes for Connect Four. I recall playing the square hole version once and finding it more difficult to tell which piece was which than with the rounded. I have the same version of Connect Four that you show there, with the round holes. I wonder if the...

Re: Game Gear Cartridge Organizer?

One nifty part about that spice rack (in addition to holding 25-30 games each) is that it looks pretty nice for display too, because the 3 tiers allow you to see a lot of games at once. The tiers also allow it to take up a lot of vertical space, so it works well when placed on a book shelf. Unfortun...

Re: Doom for the Switch

I didn’t play the PS4 version to compare but the graphics on the Switch version are good. The game performs well and at no point did the graphics hinder my enjoyment of it. People get too hung up on minor technical details that don’t affect the game at all. Agreed. The Game Informer review basicall...

Re: MLB: The show 18

Thanks for sharing about this. I've been curious how it would turn out, since it's been getting a lot of marketing this year. I'm a big fan of sports games, but mostly stick to football and basketball. It's probably been about a decade since I bought a new baseball game. I'm overdue though, so maybe...

Re: Game Gear Cartridge Organizer?

Depends on whether your goal is more geared toward displaying too, or just purely storage. Personally, this is what I decided to use in my gameroom and I've really liked it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BRU8R0 It has 3 tiers, and easily fits 9 Game Gear games on each tier (so, at least 27 games tot...

Re: Doom for the Switch

Ha, when I first saw this topic title - "doom for the Switch" - I misread it, thinking it was going to be the Critic telling us why the Switch is doomed. Close call... As for the game... Another downside - the Game Informer review noted that the graphics in the Switch version are a noticea...

Re: Toys R Us flier from Christmas 1998 (and bonus Caldor flier)

As a bonus, for those of you from the Northeast, here's a few pages from a Caldor flier that I found in the same newspaper. This is also from November 1998. Caldor went out of business in 1999.
