Good call - that appears to be the case:

Sweet Home (Famicom)

I read rave reviews about Sweet Home for the Famicom (Japan's NES) and heard it was the precursor to Resident Evil. So I ordered a copy via ebay. I order a lot of Japanese games and most are usually in English. If nothing else I figured with my Retro Freak/Retron 5 I could change the region setting ...

2017/10/19: Game Boy Color: The Simpsons: Night of the Living Treehouse of Horror

Thanks for whoever recommended this. It's not great but was fun to review.

Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking? A Halloween Special Portable Edition???

Simpson's Treehouse of Horror

I'm about to post a review of the Game Boy Color game, but it occurred to me I'd love to have a DVD collection of the old Treehouse of Horror episodes. They were always my favorite, although I will admit it's been years since I've seen one. So I looked on Amazon and they have a DVD with the episodes...

SNES Waterworld Soundtrack

Got an interesting email from a reader I'd like to pass along: Did you know Waterworld actually got a release overseas on the Super Nintendo? It was never released in North America, so I don't know if it's region free, but it indeed exists. Anyway, I highly recommend listening to the soundtrack, it'...

Re: The value of downloadable games? (Part 2), and how it'll kill the hobby.

I found a quote on Slashdot which sums things up nicely: Linear games don't offer the kind of customer retention that multiplayer online games do. If you can't make your customer base pay for win, over and over and over again, a game is not considered worth developing any more. Today's publishers do...

Re: Digitpress.com Gone.

I hope it survives in some form. It seems like all the organic, grassroots sites on the internet have been subsumed by Facebook, Twitter, etc. Don't you sometimes get that feeling?

Re: The value of downloadable games? (Part 2), and how it'll kill the hobby.

The industry wants total control. If you have an actual copy of the game, they don't have that. They want to be able to charge you in exciting new ways - microtransactions, DLC, subscriptions, etc. That way the money just keeps rolling in. As for game collecting winding down, I think you can make an...

Ikari Warriors (Atari 2600)

Somebody mentioned this recently so I tried out the ROM in my Harmony cart.
Not bad! This retains all the basic elements of the original game.
You have a supply of grenades and can even commandeer tanks.
I think the only thing missing is two-player simultaneous play.
Review forthcoming!
