Re: Good Computer?

ptdebate's post says it all perfectly. I mentioned the weak PSU myself, but the actual numbers really put it into perspective: only 240 watts! And again, even if it did have an adequate PSU, good luck finding a card that'll fit. There isn't a single point in this machine's favor for what you're tryi...

Re: Quake II (Nintendo 64)

If you like Quake II on the N64, try the original PC Quake. Still the best (single-player) FPS after 21 years (best multiplayer is Quake III).

Re: Good Computer?

Pass. It only has integrated graphics, and it's apparently a pain in the butt to upgrade because of the weak power supply, cramped form factor, and badly outdated card slot. It'll get your mom on the Internet, but it's crippled as a game machine.

I don't know if too many people in the 21st century will have the patience to put up with the cruel joke that is the 1541 floppy drive. The C64 is one case where I'm happier to just emulate it rather than deal with the actual hardware.

Re: Internet Ads

Get an ad blocker. It's been years since I've seen an ad outside sites where I've specifically disabled it in support (including this one).

Re: 2017/9/26: Nintendo 64: Paperboy

I saw "Nintendo 64: Paper..." in the forum index and assumed that you had reviewed Paper Mario. Was I in for a surprise!

I kinda want to play this game. I'm sure that it's terrible, but it seems like it's an intriguing kind of terrible that's worth experiencing firsthand.

Re: Male vs Female Game Characters

I'm not so sure about that. What happens every time a Tomb Raider game comes out? What happened when Tracer got popular? What happened when Link was a boy in BotW instead of giving players the option to change genders? People threw fits. There are people who will make a stink at any opportunity. No...

Re: Male vs Female Game Characters

But boring characters do sell video games. Guybrush Threepwood is very much a minority compared to all the superhuman badasses that have been selling games since nearly the dawn of the medium. There is no reason that a game developer can't put a Samus or Tracer, or even a Lara Croft, in their game i...

Re: Question on the Sega Saturn vs the Sega Dreamcast library?

I'm not much of a JRPG fan, I admit. I figured that a system with Skies of Arcadia , Phantasy Star Online , and Grandia II probably had more like them - if a schlub like me knew about those games, how many other classics would actual aficionados of the genre be playing? I guess the answer is not too...
