I'm almost ashamed to admit...

Ah, yes. Lemmings on the Game Gear had some pretty memorable music, as did Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap on the SMS. I even have the tune from Cheetahmen on my hard drive in the Jeep. Sometimes I like the actual song, other times I listen to it to bring back the memories I had when playing it. T...

Double Dash was the best Mario Kart...

I feel this way not just because I got so insanely good at it, but because I felt that skill played the most role in how someone did. You actually had to learn how to get the power boost out of the drift, rather than just waiting and having it done automatically. I also liked the extreme differences...

What do your the kids in your life think of these games?

I couldn't believe it; my 8 year old nephew was over, and I figured that he'd make a beeline to the PS4 or Wii U. Nope, he's playing Jungle Hunt on the 2600. Then he was having a blast with the NES playing Jackal, and then Super Mario Bros. It was so heartwarming watching him trying to figure out th...

California Games (NES)

What a crappy game! There are better Action 52 games than this. Ok, so there aren't. But the concept is similar; pack in a bunch of crappy games onto one cartridge and sell it.

You select from six different events, and none of them are any fun or intuitive to play. These include the...

Question about early systems...

I just turned 33 the other day, and though I did play the Atari 2600 here and there as a kid, I effectively grew up on the NES. I remember being thoroughly psyched to play on the NES, getting pissed because the fat kid was taking forever to get off the bus on the stop before mine, thus cutting into ...

No good reason to buy a PS4 or Xbox One

A good reason to get one of these systems is because you have to look twice to figure out which one was the real game, and which was the video game. Ultimately what gives it away is the fact that one of them shows the Cubs in October. <img rel="lightbox" class="bbc_img" alt="[10658786_10153285...

Madden 15 (PS4). They finally got it right!

The game looks pretty enough on the field, actually it looks downright gorgeous, exactly what I expect from the PS4. However, the background still looks rather blah, especially with the fans and some of the personnel on the sidelines. This isn't PS2, nowadays things like that can really ruin the who...

Will a big company ever produce a retro system?

This would be great. I like to have my systems ready to play at all times, and it can be a royal pain with all the wires. Not to mention that this could include an upconverter, since any older TV is going to be a hunk of junk that barely works.

Making Your Own Rules in Video Games

In Tecmo Super Bowl, I tried to get my buddy to agree to no "lurching" (Moving your nose tackle slightly down and towards the qb then diving for an almost automatic sack), but he's a cheating SOB. He tried to ban me from changing my playbook to counter with shotgun plays and roll-outs, but then if h...

2014/9/23: Playstation 4: Madden NFL 15

The game looks pretty, but then they didn't fix many of the problems from last year. Why do quarterbacks still complete 90% of their passes? Why can't I throw deep? Why can't I run the ball? I was madly in love with the game at first, but the more I play it, the more flaws I seem to see.
