Best Shoot 'em ups?

Here's my personal top tier of the games I've played:

1) Fire Shark (Genesis)
2) Musha (Genesis)
3) Radiant Silvergun (Saturn)
4) Life Force (NES)
5) Galactic Attack (Saturn)

I like the Thunderforce series, but not as much as everyone else. I play Axelay from time to ...

2010/9/18: Sega CD: Chuck Rock II: Son of Chuck, Night Trap, Willy Beamish, The Adventures of

Thank you for reviewing Willy Beamish. I liked the game a lot more than you did, but you are right about all the loading times, etc. I thought the best thing about it is the "life of a little kid" theme. It's the only time I've ever been in detention (in a video game).

Metroid: Other Game Please

I think the problem is that we hold Metroid games to a higher standand than other games. Every single Metroid game up till now has been spectacular. Other M is probably a better than average video game, but when put next to the provious offerings, it probably falls short a little bit....

Time for Halloween Games

Deep Fear on the Saturn is supposed to be pretty scary. It's a survival horror game that takes place underwater. It's kind've like the movie called The Abyss. It wasn't released in the US (thank you stupid Sega of America) but it's in English and pretty cheap to import. ...

Favorite Game..Period!!!

Toy Commander

I thought it was "okay" my first time through, but when I played it to completion (beating every mission) I saw more of the game, and I coudn't believe how well designed it was. The missions are varied, the house is detailed, and the boss fights are epic.

hidden affordable gems for psx (ps1)

Qix Neo (2003) and Puzzle Star Sweep (2001). Both were bargain bin games released late in the PS1 lifecycle. You can find out about Qix Neo by reading VGC's review on this site. Puzzle Star Sweep is a puzzle game that will twist your brain. Occasionally, bosses appear...

Video Game Art: Atari In Space

The Wikipedia article for "Don't Look Back" says that the Space Invaders artwork was inspired by the album cover. However, the source that is cited is a website that was merely speculating. I think someone needs to track down the artist an ask them, otherwise we'll never know.

Video Game Art: Atari In Space

Wow Zetax, I never knew about the Boston cover. Looks like the album came out in 1978, and the game was released in 1980. Each of them has cliffs in the background, a UFO with a city on top, and three beams shooting down. I'm 99% sure the Atari artwork was plagiarized....

2010/9/11: Genesis: Ariel the Little Mermaid, Comix Zone, Liberty or Death

Good reviews as always. Comix Zone is a game I want to like, but I haven't been able to get good at it enough to enjoy it. It's good for short gaming sessions though. I also wish it had come in a standard case instead of that the flimsy cardboard box.

That Liberty or De...

Box Art?

It's a great idea. Perhaps have a section of the site devoted to box art and the discussion of it. It should be separate from the other sections. Maybe it could be called "box art reviews." If done, it would probably be the first of its kind, except for the traditi...
