Re: 1982: A Christmas to Remember

Very enjoyable article, Dave! I think my favorite Atari Christmas was probably 1981. My brother and I had gotten our Sears VCS the previous year along with quite a few games including Tank-Plus (Combat), Basketball, Maze Mania, Dodger Cars and Space Invaders, but at Christmas 1981 we received Astero...

Re: 2017/12/8: Atari 7800: Asteroids, Astro Fighter

Very nice reviews! I picked up Astro Fighter a while ago. I wasn't as impressed with it as I was with Astro Blaster. I should probably give it another try.

Re: Shark Attack (Atari 2600/Maze)

I much prefer Lost Luggage, Infiltrate and my favorite, Spacechase, which the critic didn't care for. Most of the other Apollo games aren't very good.

Re: 2017/7/15: Colecovision: Oil's Well, Pitfall II: Lost Caverns

Very nice reviews! Oil's Well is a favorite of mine and I agree about Pitfall II... I find a bit more frustrating than the Atari 2600 version.

Re: Old Mechanical Games

I have Hungry Hungry Hippos, Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots, Mousetrap and Operation. My daughter and I used to play all of those quite a lot when she was younger. I don't know if they're in the same category, but I also have two newer games: Don't Wake Daddy and Gassy Gus that you have to press a button ...

Yes, Kaboom and Warlords are two of my all-time favorites for the 2600. Great games!

Re: Miniature Golf (2600)

Strangely, I kind of like this game. Maybe it's because I love playing real miniature golf so much. Sure, the graphics and the control are bad. Actually that's not completely fair. It's difficult to position the cursor, but once you hit the ball it usually behaves in a somewhat predictable manner. I...

Re: 2016/11/14: Atari 2600: Marauder, Alpha Beam with Ernie

I have all of the 2600 kid's games that I bought for my daughter to play. I graded them by how much she enjoyed playing the games. Her favorites were Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle and Strawberry Shortcake: Musical Matchups along with the Grover's Music Maker prototype. As for the other Sesame S...
