Re: World Video Game Hall of Fame

I don't play this game or MMORPGs in general, but I think its worthy of a spot. Yes, its arguably too soon, but it basically popularized and defines MMORPGs, and is still going strong, with millions of players, after 10 years. So, for being 'long lived, far reaching and influential' it rings the bel...

Re: Political Correctness

One of the benefits of running a not-for-profit site is that you don't depend on how many people you have subscribed. Write however you want! If that drives some people away, so be it. I think you are correct that people are very sensitive about how things are presented nowadays. I agree with Ptdeb...

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

Christopher Lee passed away in his 90s. To modern audiences he was Saruman or Dooku, but to Horror fans he is Dracula for Hammer or Lord Summerisle and Fu Manchu for other companies. Supposedly he was to be Dr No, but it did not pan out, although he would get to be a Bond villain eventually.

Re: 2015/6/4: Wii U: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

I like stories in games myself, but .. the problem most stories in fantasy RPGs(which are the most prevalent type of RPG) like the Elder Scrolls series just do absolutely nothing for me. I can understand that. Dungeons and Dragons made tabletop RPGs a phenomenon, and tied it to high fantasy, where ...

Re: One Sentence N64 Reviews

I'll give one a go: You and three friends can zoom like stoned hipsters through Peabody's Improbable Geographies in shiny German commuter cars with 'nice wheels', crashing through train crossings and catching air, with easy controls and groovy music. B+ Name that game? (highlight below) Beetle Adven...

Re: Alone in the Dark (1992)

Thanks Friend Rev. I think I needed a nudge to go give it another try. Since the controls have me annoyed, I may hedge and use a walkthrough to minimize the pain. I played the Jack in the Dark little game, and you had to be spot on to achieve the result even if you knew exactly what to do. I have he...

Re: One Sentence N64 Reviews

I think a sentence should be a sentence, and not a collection of dependent clauses. I prefer absolute adjectives instead of relative ones. The review should not reference another game, but should mention the type of game. I think your reviews assume too much about the readers knowledge. For instance...

Re: SuperHero TV

...The Flash is also on my list to get...I also need to get The Incredible Hulk. That show was awesome. The Flash really exceeded expectations. While 12 Monkeys is not a superhero show, I think those two are my favorite shows of the year. I watched the Hulk back in the day, and of course its The Fu...

Re: 2015/6/4: Wii U: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

I understand that feeling ptdebate. I have found myself annoyed when an older game is rated unfavorably against a game from years later -- of course a game from 1983 better be better than a game from 1978! How is that fair? Of course Canyon Bomber is simple...people were still playing Pong in 1978! ...
