Re: Star Wars Episode VII Discussion ***SPOILERS***

Frankly I didn't even notice all the parallels to New Hope until these critics brought it up. Spoiler alert again, just to make sure. Loved the movie. Glad Lucas sold his baby. I enjoyed the movie immensely from crawl to credits, but the smudges from carbon paper from the script of A New Hope are b...

Re: Star Wars VII Theory: Luke Skywalker is the villain

If George Lucas made it, I have to consider it canon...Prequels are canon. That's never going to change. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away....Star Wars begins by saying basically Once apon A time. A nice part of Star Wars is the recognition that the story is basically Mythology in Space. The...

Re: Can you play Game Gear games on a TV?

Not on a device you can buy. Even more frustrating because it's nearly identical to the Master System only with only a larger color palette. This page has detailed pin mappings of the SMS and GG. It looks like you could(?) make a pin mapper as a snowy winter project. The diagram is the more familia...

Re: Coleco Chameleon

Here is a post from someone who understands the tech, the same Kevin person.

The slot adapter is an okay idea, or a piggy back cartridge. All of those might end up being vaporware though.

re: Coleco Chameleon

The AtariAge link is both in the Ars Technica article and here http://atariage.com/forums/topic/235430-how-has-this-not-been-posted-yet-retro-vgs/ Its huge - about 200 pages. You could probably just read from page 175 on when Coleco gets involved for the recent thoughts. Nah, I don't do ROMs really....

Re: Coleco Chameleon

Says they wanted to have compatibility with at least the NES, Atari 2600, Intellivision and Colecovision. This September article may no longer be valid. We have had all these systems with A/V out now recently, with preloaded games and controllers fitting the system. One of the nice things on last y...

Re: Coleco Chameleon

I think the article and comments are on target. The AtariAge community seems bearish or downright antagonistic now, the team behind it does not inspire confidence given the last year, and the competition for ways to enjoy simpler gaming is just too strong. Dave, you are enjoying the GBA player on th...

Re: old catalogs / NES

This jives with topics on the NES we have had. I was looking at a 1986 Sears catalog. For $150 or so, you got the NES console, zapper, ROB, two controllers and the pack-in games. This was the same price the Colecovision or 5200 had been in 1983, or the Commodore 64 in 1985 and 1986 (without the disk...

Re: Original Nintendo Game Prices

I spent a nostalgic hour going back through Sears Catalogs and Toys R Us ads. Looks like $30 was an acceptable price. The Atari VCS games in 1977 were about $20 for launch titles, and by 1983 holiday time were $5 for those old titles up to $30 for new ones. $30 for 5200 or Colecovision games too. Se...
