Re: Best Alcohol Drinks?

The nice think about Vodka is that the best brands dont cost an arm and a leg. If you're paying more than $40 for a bottle of Vodka you're doing it wrong. Two great brands of grain vodka I recommend are Reyka and Russian Standard (100% serious about this one). For a pure potato vodka you can't go wr...

Re: Wii games to play with your wife

My girlfriend who is a non-gamer actually really likes fighting games. I suspect the reason is the easy-to-learn controls and variety of characters to choose from. She's actually pretty good at them!

There's a wide variety of fighting games available through Virtual Console. Give them a try!

Ah, no kidding? I've been seeing a lot of games like that lately. I guess physical media remains as popular as ever overseas.

This is not a Japanese exclusive...In fact I seem to recall that it sold really well in the US.

4K TV

Good evening VGCers,

Although I was fairly intent on not upgrading to 4K, it seems 4K has been thrust upon me. I received a 4K TV as a bonus from work.

Any 4K gaming experiences you all would recommend? Or perhaps any standout 4K Blu Rays?

I don't have a PS4 Pro but I do have a 4k-capable PC.

Re: I Like Short Games

To be honest, although I do like other types of games, if I could no longer play RPGs I'd probably just stop gaming.

Re: Beyond Oasis (Genesis)

This is a Zelda-style game for the Genesis. The graphics are nice (large characters and a lot of detail) but the audio is the worst! The sound effects (like water falls) are really abrasive and the stereo sucks. The music gets loud and soft for no reason. Audio is very hit or miss for the Genesis. ...

Re: I Like Short Games

I, like GTS, see no conflict between having a full life and playing lengthy games. If a 10-hour shooter campaign takes a week to complete, then a 40-hour RPG will take four weeks! It's not that hard to finish long games if you just stick with it. But it shouldn't be hard work. If a game isn't holdin...

Re: Why do people like RPGs?

Most RPGs don't have a compelling plot or characters, so if you go into RPGs expecting a gripping story with three-dimensional inhabitants I think you'll be grossly disappointed. (I certainly would be, with very rare exceptions.) Some people claim otherwise, but compare a good book or movie to even...

Re: Cutscenes?

Cutscenes are, to a greater or lesser extent, essential for any story-based game. They are at their best when they convey essential information without going overlong and detracting from the gameplay experience. One example of a game with great cutscenes is Half Life 2, where they follow a very stri...
