Re: Lack of retro goodness on PSN/XBLA

There are continued rumors and reports that Sony is planning PS1/PS2 emulation for the PS4. So those PS3 downloads of PS1/PS2 classics and the original discs could soon be usable. Would be an excellent counter to Microsoft's limited 360 emulation when that feature goes public later this year for XB1...

Re: Goldeneye (Nintendo 64)

It might be helpful to spend some more time with the Perfect Dark remastering on Rare Replay first. Getting the low frame rate and low resolution out of the way while experiencing gameplay that's nearly identical to Goldeneye will help you best gauge the strength of the underlying game while not all...

Re: Worst Nintendo holiday lineup and pricing ever?

In Fatal Frame's defense, several popular review outlets that received it well don't provide scores and thus aren't represented at Metacritic. And 9 of the reviews there have it pegged in the 70-74% category, 11 from 75%-85%, 1 at 90%, and only 8 failing grades (Including a couple of names well know...

Re: Fatal Frame Wii U

I'm skeptical and don't put much stock into this stuff, but several mainstream reviewers are giving this mediocre scores. I suspect though that something like this review from GameXplain, which strikes me as more independent than most outlets, is going to be most accurate for the average gamer. They...

Re: Xbone online status.

Yet staying offline doesn't seem to help any with much of that, judging by your posts. I think that's where the confusion rests since it's unclear exactly what conveniences you're enjoying by going this route with your modern consoles. Being pestered with ads for instance doesn't seem any less appea...

Re: Fatal Frame Wii U

In honor of Halloween and the release of a new Fatal Frame, are you going to be reviewing the last entry that we actually properly received (Fatal Frame 3 for the PS2)? http://videogamecritic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=134797&t=10610 For newcomers intrigued by this, here's an earlier thread on t...

Duke Nukem 3D official release for the Genesis

Thought this was neat. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-10-16-duke-nukem-3d-finally-gets-a-sega-mega-drive-release https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPdrJtrCi3U I've loaded it up before in my Everdrive. It's surprisingly playable and a fine testament to the 3D capabilities of Sega's 16 bit hardw...

Re: Are discs on Xbox One and PS4 console/account locked once used?

Even if you have the digital rights to a 360 game, the Xbox One requires the Rare Replay disk in the machine. Maybe, that goes away once they release the update for 360 backward compatibility? It will. Xbox 360 backwards compatibility isn't officially available yet outside of Rare Replay. So unless...

Re: Are discs on Xbox One and PS4 console/account locked once used?

It's impossible since Xbox 360 game discs are identical. For instance, my launch day copy of Project Gotham Racing 3 is identical to all launch day copies of PGR3 released in the United States. No unique serial number is present on the disc nor is there a CD key that must be inputted in order to pla...

Re: Scariest moment you've experienced playing a game?

I have two rather unusual moments that haven't been embellished. One was while playing a Formula One game called Monaco Grand Prix for the Nintendo 64. I'm likely the only fan that game has, but I was deep into a full-length grand prix at the Hungaroring 15 years ago or so and had a sizable lead aft...
