Re: You get 3 games (can choose from Mario, Zelda, or Metroid)....Go!

This one is tough. Since we can pick two games, I'll go with one 2D and one 3D entry for each. 2D: -Super Mario World -A Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past -Super Metroid 3D: -Super Mario 64 (Super Mario 3D World is great, but unsure that SM64 will ever be toppled for me) -A Legend of Zelda: Ocarin...

Re: Bring Back High Score Challenge?

I sure killed this thread... Anyone thinking of starting a high score contest? AtariAge has some such things, if anyone wants to draw some inspiration and start their own. Here's their sub-forum for the 2600 high score contest. http://atariage.com/forums/forum/59-2600-high-score-club/ I'd definitely...

Re: "It's terrible but I like it anyway" games

I've spent more hours than I care to admit trying to top my own score in Miniature Golf for the 2600. I've seen a handful over the years that share my appreciation for this classic, but most think like the Critic does and view it as an overly simple and basic game that doesn't have much to offer (He...

Re: Super Metroid

Metroid: Zero Mission, a GBA remake of the original, is right up there with this one. If you're ever in the mood for another 2D Metroid, I highly recommend it.

Should be on the Wii U's Virtual Console relatively soon, since it's already available in Japan.

Re: The Horror Movie Lovers Thread

The best scary movie as far as I see it, is 1944's 'The Uninvited' from Paramount Pictures (No relation, I believe, to the modern movie of the same name). It stars Ray Milland (Best known for The Lost Weekend and Dial M for Murder) and Ruth Hussey (The Philadelphia Story). The setting is perfect, it...

Re: Favorite YouTube Gamers?

Generally, I prefer pure gameplay videos displayed at their proper aspect ratio with their original audio, if I'm curious about a game and want to check out a brief video of it in action. Anything like a 4:3 game being stretched to 16:9 or audio dubbing, and I'm moving on to the next video in the se...

I do

They replaced the console, but my original gamepad came back.

Re: The Criticize Nintendo Thread

Deep into the late stages of Super Mario 3D World, and now a return of a past hardware issue with it. :( Last night, Wii U gamepad failed to power on my console and displayed the error message that I did a bit of complaining about on here before. Following the instructions sadly doesn't work, with t...

Re: New Forums Open for Business!

Been researching HDTV's around here. Anyways, looking at older threads, many seem to be screwed up. Take this one for instance. http://videogamecritic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5084&t=7889&hilit=HDTV#p82110 I know for a fact that I didn't create this topic, in fact as I recall, the Critic d...
