Re: Favorite Baseball Games

I was always a fan of INTV Baseball. Compared to the 2600, it was much more realistic and complex. And when you hit a double off the wall, you'd hear a big BOING!, just like in real life

Re: Why does emulation garner so much hate?

I fully expect to play my games into my advanced years. Isn't that what retirement is for? You need to have some kind of hobby! And after you're dead who cares? And isn't video game collecting not unlike collecting baseball cards, old coins, cars, antique guns, stamps, iron-cast banks, etc etc etc?

Re: Why does emulation garner so much hate?

How long do you expect to actually play the things you're collecting? How long do you expect to live? Do you expect to be playing them with a few balding gray hairs on your head? Do you plan on handing it down to children/grandchildren? How do you know they're even interested and wouldn't just sell...

Re: Final word on most expensive console ever!

Oh, I'm not so sure the Neo Geo gets the title: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halcyon_(console) That's the equivalent of over $6K today, I believe. :o While the Halcyon was $2,500 (wow), I don't believe it ever made it to market. According to the link, only 12 were made. Longtime poster and all aro...

Re: Possible spam/malware threat with "Genesis vs. SNES" thread

Please DO NOT go to the Genesis vs. SNES thread as it's embedded with a Trojan. The thread is out of quarantine and is back in the Classic Gaming forum. I just went through the pages to see if the thread was clean, and when I got from page 8 to 9, or 9 to 10, my security software blocked another pag...

Possible spam/malware threat with "Genesis vs. SNES" thread

Hi all and to the VGC, Just wanted to give a heads up about a possible spam or malware threat from the "Genesis vs. SNES" thread in the Classic Gaming forum. This morning I was on my I-pad and was checking out the thread (12 pages long), and as I was going from page to page, I got a warnin...

Re: ET Creator

I actually think ET is not a bad game. But then again....... I like rancid milk. The Funk is back! Long live the funk! I thought you might have been mortally injured by a Bob Orton Superplex or a Honky Tonk Man 'Shake, Rattle, and Roll'! http://videogamecritic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5084&t=...

Re: Popeye (NES)

Nice read Matmico. I always enjoyed Popeye in the arcade back in the day. Big, colorful characters, just the right amount of difficulty, quite a bit going on, and fun gameplay. Never played the NES version, but if it's anything like the arcade version, it's a winner.

Re: ET Creator

Luigi and Peach, thanks for posting. It was interesting to read quotes from Warshaw about the making of ET, and to read what's he been up to since ET. I've read quite a bit about the making of this game, and it was pretty fascinating. Ray Kassar, the president of Atari, was not the one who gave Spie...

Re: Why does everyone love Pac Man so much?

Everything Scotland stated in the above post. I've posted this before here about 8 years ago, but here it goes, my Pacman story. In the summer of 1982, a local pizza joint/video arcade opened up in my hometown of western PA, a small, depressed steel-mill town. The pizza shop was in the front, and in...
