Re: Is E.T. on Atari 2600 really that bad?

Was going to start a new thread, but thought I'd just continue here. Has anyone here seen "Atari: Game Over"? I just finished watching it (I think on Showtime). It's about the ET cartridge dig in New Mexico. The film came out in 2014. The story is about how many consider ET the worst game ...

Re: Pokemon Go - Getting lots of Attention

Personally, I kinda liked Steer and it's too bad he's been banned. Don't get me wrong, we've gotten into it more than once over the years, but he never really attacked people personally. Yeah he could be a one-trick pony with his Nintendo love, but I felt that he was a pretty decent person. Bummer h...

Re: Whats wrong with this image?

Space Invaders: enemies can only shoot one bullet at a time. Also, no barriers.

Breakout: not sure, but two missing vertical blocks in a row on left center side?

Pitfall: different character, and alligators are different.

Did I win?

Dave, I don't know if you've refunded my 10 bucks, but if you haven't yet, please just keep it. I didn't sign up for ad-free navigating, I signed up to support this wonderful site.

Re: Is E.T. on Atari 2600 really that bad?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply as always Scotland, my brutah from anothah mothah. From what I have read, none of the Atari programmers wanted anything to do with E.T. due to the ridiculous time constraint. It is also my understanding that Spielberg himself had requested Warshaw to design the ga...

Re: Is E.T. on Atari 2600 really that bad?

There is a reason this game is infamous - its lack of success played a vital role in the US home console crash. Its lessabout whether the game is bad, and more about it being disappointing and what the impact of that was. That the game took less than 6 weeks is not an excuse. Atarti / Warner acted ...

Re: VGC: The Jungle King vs Jungle Hunt Mystery

Allow me to be the Shell Answer Man. Edgar Rice Burroughs created the Tarzan novels back in 1914. When Jungle King came out, those who owned the rights to Burriughs works threatened Taito with a lawsuit due to the Tarzan-like image (and I believe in the arcade there was also a Tarzan-like yell). Tai...

Re: Power-Up Feature Online

I just paid $10 for a yearly membership which includes this site ad-free for a year, 90% off all GameStop games, free back rubs from the wife, half off Starbucks cappuccinos, free subscription to Angie's List and Consumer Reports, and a virtual pat on the head from the VGC himself. This is all true....

Re: Power-Up Feature Online

I am sorry, I refuse to pay for not seeing ads , no matter how great the content on your site is. I'll keep using my Chrome Adblock Plus plug-in... Except you wouldn't be paying $10 a year (2 Starbucks Frappuccinos) to not see ads, you'd be paying to support this site. The VGC started the ads to he...

Re: Power-Up Membership Testing

Bluenote,

Just to follow up on what Rev and VGC said, I've been coming to this site since the early 2000's, and if the VGC says he's not going to tack on additional fees, I trust him. I can't say the same about an anonymous YouTube user if he or she makes the same claim.
