Re: 2018/3/26: Atari XEGS: Pole Position, Crystal Castles

Good reviews. I wonder if Pole Position's automatic acceleration inspired Stun Runner. Space Harrier built on Sega's earlier game Zoom 909 ( Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom over here), which was released only a few months after Pole Position . Zoom 909 and Pole Position would both have been in developm...

Hmm, it needs a set of paddle controllers and then I'm in!

Re: TurboGraphix-16 History

I remember the Sears catalog for Christmas had both the TurboGrafx-16 and Sega Genesis on separate pages. One page had Sega's Altered Beast and the next page had some gimpy looking guy for its pack-in game. Clearly, the Genesis was the way better system to drool over. That never happened as I went w...

Re: PSA: Zen Studios Has Announced It Has Cancelled The Patch For Pinball FX3 On Nintendo Switch

30 FPS is half-baked?

Kids these days, man are they ever spoiled. Back in my day if we got more than 10 FPS we were happy.

That's hilarious that 60 FPS is now required or it's a broken game.

Re: Stuff that takes up room

No review of video game stuff can go without a special section on plastic musical instruments. Does anyone other than me remember Virtual Guitar? It was awesome! You got to riff with Aerosmith long before Guitar Hero came out. Off the top of my head Samba de Amigo controllers were my gateway drug. F...

Re: TurboGraphix-16 History

That was awesome! I had no idea the amount of problems they had or how TTI formed. Great read.

Re: What Remains of Edith Finch (PS4, XB1, PC) and The Unfinished Swan (PS3, PS4)

Funny, but I had a similar experience with the Unfinished Swan. It was on sale, looked interesting, and I tried it. I played the first or maybe second level splattering ink everywhere. It was interesting, but not interesting or compelling enough for me to keep going with it.

Re: Times the VGC steered you right... or wrong

Steered wrong: - Earth Defense Force 2017 (X360) - This game got positive reviews everywhere, including here. I gave it a fair shot, but could never get into it. I agree here. I decided to give it a go, also thanks to the VGC! Unfortunately, I do not really enjoy it. It's not horrible, but I don't ...

Re: 2018/2/10: Nintendo Switch: Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

Thanks for the review. I've been wanting to pick it up to give it a try. There's a really great developer diary on the Interwebs if anyone is interested. A google search should bring it up. I always find the development story interesting. A French company pulled off making a Mario styled game with l...
