Re: Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Game Boy)

I know it’s almost blasphemy in these parts but I cannot get into Zelda in any way or form. I have this game on Game Boy, played it in my lunch hour for a week or so, put it down and never wanted to pick it up again. I found the game obtuse and would continually not know what to do or where to go. I...

Re: What is your Holy Grail?

The Pioneer Laseractive with the Mega LD attachment.
Feel it’s a piece of Sega history I’m missing (despite the fact they only actually produced one game of their own on it).

Re: A New Bubsy Game...

Sonic is just.. Not there anymore to me, The last Sonic game I played was Sonic Heroes on Nintendo Gamecube/Playstation 2 and while it was ok it was the last one I ever enjoyed.. Shadow The Hedgehog's combination of Sonic's gameplay plus guns and vehicles left a sour note for me, Even Sonic The Hed...

Re: CreatiVision

Just a glance through the games list seems to represent what I dislike most about the 2nd generation.

Clone games and variants
Air Sea Battle
Space Invaders rip off
Pac-man rip off
All the usual suspects

Although to be fair I haven’t physically played any yet so I shall reserve judgement.

Re: CreatiVision

Never heard of the thing. Strange how the 2nd gen (and to a lesser extent the 5th gen) seem to be graveyards for a lot of ‘minority’ systems especially compared to other generations.

Re: Happy 25th Birthday Sega CD

As a retro gamer I appreciate the Sega CD more and more. What was once dismissed as a lazy cartridge port, I now prefer to play the CD version with a (usually) vastly improved kick ass soundtrack. Oddly the gaming media always lambasted games ‘that could be done on the Genesis’ seem to miss the poin...

Re: The value of downloadable games? (Part 2), and how it'll kill the hobby.

Which all rather begs the question does the game industry dislike the collectors ? Or are collectors the collateral damage in the war against used game re-sellers ?

Re: RCA Studio II (1977) - console and games review - 40th Birthday Bonanza

Found this today: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/209519-rca-studio-ii-gold-mine-an-interview-with-the-studio-2-production-manager/?fromsearch=1 Someone on AtariAge apparently found the head of RCA's video game department and got him to answer a bunch of questions. Haven't read it all yet, but it'...

Re: Blade Runner 2049

I thought it was pretty good, they tried to keep the aesthetic similar. It’s almost GTA esq as in it’s (almost) a different story in the same world. To be honest I don’t think it needed the Deckard/Rachel parts at all it should have been brave enough to stand on its own. I would say it doesn’t have ...

Re: My system is better than your system

So my Speccy is better than your C64 My ST is better than your Amiga It amazes me that systems so perfectly unsuited to games were ever able to draw a following based on games, against hardware that could actually scroll a screen without choking to death. Britain in the '80s was a strange, dark pla...
