Re: Favorite Racing Games Of All Time Thread

I enjoy racing games despite not being into cars. Lotus 2 - Atari ST This was as close to Out Run as you could get at the time. Fast, smooth, good graphics with differing environments every stage felt different and a great intro tune. Sega Rally - Sega Saturn In my opinion the greatest racing game E...

Re: Games so bad you have to shut it off

I truly believed that if a game wasn't fun, I either didn't understand how to play it, or it just wasn't my kind of game. I never considered, young and naive as I was, that they would release bad games That resonates so much with me. Back in my Speccy and ST days I just couldn't comprehend video ga...

Re: Hunt the Wumpus (Ti99/4a)

Brilliant! Enjoyed that review. I vaguely remember playing something similar at school on a BBC Micro computer.

Any good Sega games for PS3 ?

I think Sega's output as a third party developer is harshly criticised sometimes. A lot of their 6th gen output was good (OutRun 2006, Panzer Dragoon Orta). I've played Sega Rally Revo and really enjoyed it on PS3. I'm also really interested in Sonic Generations. Any other recommendations from Sega ...

Re: When did Street Fighter become so 'hardcore'

Interestingly, I learned on a non-SF stream the other day that fans of the Series that became fans after the release of SFIV are referred to as "09ers", and often belittled by older fans of the series. When nerdiness gets hostile, I'm out. Lol. Oh good grief! Another crowd to avoid along ...

Re: 2015/6/27: Fairchild Channel F: Drag Strip, Pinball Challenge, Tetris

Just listened to the Channel F files podcast on Pinball Challenge.

The Critic gets a mention, and boy is one of the guys not happy with his Pinball review. Unfortunately he doesn't actually state why he disagrees with the review and why the Critic's score is wrong.

Re: 2016/2/4: Intellivision: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Junior

I've read that Coleco purposefully put out a garbage INTV version of DK to reinforce the idea that the CV was the superior system. That's Dick Dastardly levels of scheming, brilliant ! Someone once described the 2nd generation as the Wild West. The more I discover from that period the more I'm incl...

Re: 2016/2/4: Intellivision: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Junior

Wow I was surprised by how awful Intellivision Donkey Kong looks. For the supposedly most powerful 2nd generation console it is an embarrassment.

It was good to read the home brew review afterwards and see it righted some wrongs.

Re: What reviews do you get excited about?

For me anything that hasn't got much coverage elsewhere. Your second generation game reviews brought me to the site and I think they are a great strength. I also enjoy game reviews for the more obscure systems I'm unfamiliar with. The only ones I tend to skip are American sports game reviews or your...

When did Street Fighter become so 'hardcore'

Street Fighter 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. The MegaDrive version in particular is the one I spent so much good times with. The last Street Fighter game I played was Alpha 2 on Saturn which was also enjoyable. I've recently started played Street Fighter 4.... Good lord! What's with al...
